We're at DEFCON5, make no mistake. Pissy pants levels are off the scale. The Athletic hasn't the first idea of how bad things really are. Guaranteed sheet shortage imminent in the North West. United fans getting concerned as a result.

They did do it before and stayed up, only to have a very decent season the year after. Selling Elanga wasn't ideal but they have got decent money for him as well as shedding some squad players. To be fair to them, in signing MGW up to a new contract and levelling up their recruitment, their approach looks pretty shrewd.

They have sellable assets now to, but we know what its like to have to balance the books before July 31st.
