Listen I’m not saying the lad isn’t talented, but it’s a risk spending 45m on a young lad from a relegated team. The pressure and expectation on him to perform here would be immense for such a young lad.

I hear what you're saying but he's a very composed boy who was strutting his stuff at the big teams grounds last season despite being in a lousy team. His end product needs work but so do all young players in general. I'm very confident our fans will take to him very quickly

I mean if the fees are correct for these players then surely Thelwell could have done exactly the same deal as these new guys, so in my opinion what was the point in changing him.

Yeah we’re all hypocrites when it comes to transfers. Say the club should take nothing less than £85million for our best prospect and then go mad when another team asks for £45 mill for theirs

The club obviously has to be brave and stick to their valuation and walk away if they feel they are getting rinsed but it doesn’t sound like the offer is too far away from saints valuation now.

I’ve absolutely no issue with Saints wanting top dollar for a player they believe to be a serious talent.

We’d be hypocrites if we said we wouldn’t want the same from our club.
