Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

With Keane leaving we will be left with Tarkowski, Branthwaite and O`Brien as the CB options, I like Esteve who is a left footer who is rumoured to interest us from Burnley. I think that 4 is quite strong, I`d also look at phasing Tarky out next season with O`Brien replacing him, don`t forget Tarky will be 33/34 on a £100k per week contract which expires at the end of next season.

As you allude to there FBs have become an important part of the modern game, when our full backs play well the team do aswell, all too often. The Notts Forest game was an example of that...

Patterson and Mykolenko will be OK as back up to the 1st choice FBs and I think we need FBs that have more about them.

RB 1- 2-Patterson
RCBs 1-Tarkowski 2-O`Brien
LCBs 1-Branthwaite 2-Esteve or AN Other
LB 1- 2-Mykolenko

It`ll be interesting how the summer goes but don`t think our signings will come before 1st July and the start of the next accounting period.
Have seen nothing to say patterson will be an ok backup, how long has he got on his contract, then for him to still not be able to nail down the rb spot is a massive worry for me. With obrien prefered over him just feel is time to let it go with him.

I think a lot, like myself, used to look at West Ham and think Bowen, Paqueta, Kudus etc. Good team, well recruited.

But then you listen to their fans (why did so many seem to have an issue with Moyes?), and scratch beyond a few decent attacking players, look deeper and it's what you say - a hell of a lot of waste there.

Honestly they have 2 players I'd be happy to pay what they did to sign now and that's Bowen and Kudus. But even Kudus, I like him but £45m or whatever it was is a lot, and he's scored 3 goals this season. He can be a bit of a luxury player.

Its funny as some of their fans say he's bought good players but didn't get the best from them. Others say some of those buys were the owners. It seems a bit of a mess at West Ham.

Re Kudos, it's odd as he's clearly a good player isn't he? I don't know if it's whoever bought him, or that the managers just aren't using him properly.

Like we probably had similar with O'Brien before Moyes came.

Problem is going to get someone to come in as 4th choice I doubt the lad from Burnley or any young CB who’s been playing regularly, will go for that
I`m not quite sure at football clubs they are saying you ae 1st choice, you 2nd, you 3rd etc.... You need a squad, Esteve can cover LB and O`Brien can cover RB.

He will move to 1st choice LCB if Branthwaite leaves...

This Newman fella who was at West Ham with Moyes and his name was linked with Everton a few weeks ago. Not sure of him and Hammond do the same job, but interesting that Hammond was worked with kinnear and the Newman link has gone quiet. Does that say TFG want kinnear to have a lot of control
Don’t know but I think it’s a good sign that the manager (whether Moyes or another) has total control

It’s was mentioned as a 4th choice ,
Yes if branthwaite goes then that’s different. Also players aren’t stupid, they knew lf everyone is ft, it’s Tarkowski and branthwaite

Frankly, I'm astonished anyone can look at the list of players there and think that's a good effort, or that 80% would improve us.

There's 2 centre Half's there for £70m+ who wouldn't get in our squad.

You keep going back to Evertons recruitment the past few years and making comparisons, neglecting the context of our position. Having to sell/make profit every window. Having to sign players for £0 or £0 upfront. We've not had the luxury West Ham have had.

Forgetting any attempt at comparison - just looking at West Hams signings the last 5 years is enough.

There's a reason they're on their arse at the moment, and have been for a couple of seasons now.

I think anyone who thinks 80% of that list doesn’t play games for us over the same period is just being disingenuous. Similarly you pick the strongest part of our team - centre back and pick their worst and go a bit hyperbole. It’s funny actually because Zouma actually played here over the same period and Chelsea wouldn’t take our money. Quite clearly almost all the attacking players on that list get in our team.

Moyes took over WHU from a similar position we are in now. It’s relative. Essentially what you arguing here is Moyes took WHU from 17th, to European Football, to a Trophy via 100s of millions of revenue - through bad recruitment. There is 0 logic to that.

It’s an astonishing stretch to be fair to you, I admire with in a way! 😛

If we want to be a club that goes deep in to more than one competition there will need to be rotation between both LCBs and RCBs.... if we think our players can play every game like they do now we need to get real. The fact we get knocked out of cup competitions could point to the work load on 1 set of eleven players, add Europe in to that mix too...

We need 23 players ideally, 2 for each position and 3 GKs, we can then add youngsters around that.

Having Esteves and O`Brien as rotation players behind Tarkowski and Branthwaite will get you further than O`Brien and a youngster or old guy who you would not want to play, there needs to be little or no drop off.

be difficult if they come up also the lad could think playing each week in burnley if promoted in the prem can get him a big move.

West Ham finished 9th last season. How is that ‘on their arse’? Pre Moyes they had finished higher than that twice in 20 years.

You have to take in price, age, value for money and a lot of them were not. 30mil vlassic, ward prowes. 7mil half a season loan fee on a guy who’d hardly played, kalvin Philips
He wants shooting for them deals. And has he put West Ham in a bad place,
That could take them 4/5yrs to recover from

And just because they can get in our team, doesn’t mean it’s a good buy, some on here may think Broja,
Is better than Beto and Chermiti and it’s like us buying him for 30mil in the summer, better than what we’ve got but it’s a terrible buy for the price

Kalvin Phillips was a truly horrendous loan signing but just for a bit of balance Jesse Lingard was an outstanding loan signing.

Out of all our strikers if fit, Broja would be my last choice to start.

Honestly dont know what many see in him

We were chaotic last season and they only achieved 4 points more than us.

Wheels come right off for them - from December they were 17th for form/results.

Bowen/Kudus aside - they're a bottom half team. An aging side. Id have had them 12th-17th this season.

After spending a lot of money, too.

They're 17th now.

Factor in a shocking appointment in Potter and thats what I mean by on their arse.
