We can't do that. It's too much of a risk.

Surely the fact we've only managed to ship out Funes Mori and Rooney so far shows their simply isn't a market out there for the likes of Mirallas, Bolasie, Williams etc?

Plus, in this instance I'm not worried about the squad having settled. Plenty of squads have been disrupted far more than ours by the World Cup, for one. We'll have the core in place and the tactics. The players we sign will be being targeted as they can slot right into that anyway. Only major area would be CB as you kind of have to know your partner and have a good understanding, but there's ways of working on that in training as well as the opening few games.

Totally agree.

In an ideal world we would have got rid of 10 or so and brought 3/4 in and had a few weeks to inbed a new team ethic and tactics.

However we have to accept that in reality things are not that easy.

I also believe that the new manager and coaches will get more out of this set of players. Not sure why I believe that but then again Koeman looked disinterested and Allardyce is a an old fashioned manager , a fool who only listens to himself.

Thanks to the sterling investigative efforts of @davek , we've all been made well aware that one or two of the senior players (<cough cough Bainesy and Capt Jags cough cough>) have a reputation for stirring up dissent at Finch Farm. I'm wondering how these two will react if there is any truth to the rumours surfacing, regarding Morgs being given the captain's armband...
Could be 'trouble at mill' brewing...

You best be winding me up ! Morgan ? Captain?
As in captain Morgan?

I have very good sources, the best sources, and what they tell me is accurate. I don't want to spill the beans, but believe me, things are happening.

I used to have an absolute beast of a source a few years ago, guy I play football with , his dad used to work for Everton and organise the travel and accomodation for players and agents that we were trying to sign. Used to post info on bluekipper before I was hounded out for saying Moyes was talking to Barry Ferguson ( which came out as true a week or so later) , got heaps of abuse so I stopped passing info .

This week is going to see a lot of people get very stressed and rightly so. It’s worth noting that a lot of business gets done in the last week of the window - all parties (buying and selling clubs, players, agents etc) are trying to drive the best deals they can get.

Just like last season when clubs knew we were buying and squeezed us, they know we need to sell this season, we’re probably a bit of an easy touch at the minute.

As unfounded as it may be, i have more faith in the current reigieme to do a better job. Last season was such a failure that it could only have added pressure and focused minds.

I’m placing some blind and perhaps misguided faith in Brands, silva and the new board to get us back on track.

I’ll probably regret this.....
