I've long bemoaned the level of expertise ministers have in their roles as health, education or home secretary etc. I don't believe you can be an effective facilitator without understanding the ecosystem you operate in, but for a home secretary to display such ignorance on Northern Ireland is yet another new low this awful party have mined their way to.

They’ve bet everything on the culture war bollocks, and will get decimated next election for it. The failures of the conservative rule since they got in after Brown have nigh-on turned Britain into a second-world country (at least with poverty and wealth gap levels) and as a result they have literally no “wins” to point to further than the winnings they’ve whacked in their own back pockets due to corruption.
The problem is, how on Earth are people going to vote based solely on culture wars issues when they can’t afford food, can’t get to see a doctor, can’t afford electricity or gas? How are young people going to vote Tory when they have zero chance of getting on the housing ladder, and even if they did the interest rates would make it untenable with only one income?
I know the British public are idiots, as evidenced by voting these monsters in repeatedly, and voting for brexit, but if they vote them in again they may as well literally be suicidal unless they’re rich.
Surely a house is going to fall on her sooner or later.

Braverman predictable and boring on her route to try and win leadership. Almost guaranteed she has career route plan written down..

The problem is that it does work - people are invested in the likes of her, they’ve rowed with friends and family over the likes of her, have taken public stances over the likes of her. In the case of newspapers and the wider media they’ve put money and reputations on the line for the likes of her; they’ve either committed criminal acts or at best have (and are) acquiescing in the deaths of thousands due to the incompetence of the likes of her.
It’s very difficult for these people to back down even when (and especially when) things go horrifically wrong - they know they will pay a price for it, and a deserved price at that.
Look at UK polling at the moment - yes, Labour are miles ahead of the Tories but there’s also Reform Party on 8-10% of the vote. Combined that’s nearly 40% of the electorate, which is enough to form a government if the 60% are split.
Look at Israel, where despite two decades of being personally responsible for an absolute horror Bibi still gets a lot of support from the Israeli right.

What's next then Braverman banning Foodbanks or Hunt taxing them. Surely the most vile Government that's ever been. But no let's all vote for the Green party and keep them in office. Bravo.
