She does i think. Then will distance herself from an election loss before making a leadership bid once Sunak is ousted. Posted a Guardian piece about this earlier. Doubt she has the backing within her party but that might change. Is as good a chance as she’ll get.
She’s made a complete mess in her role, I can’t see her ever making a comeback from this. however - never underestimate the ignorance and stupidity of the Tory faithful.

People slag @davek off a lot but I see his point regarding labour. Unless there is at least some championing of leftist policies and ideals (instead of being scared to say anything for fear of being labelled an anti semite Trot), I worry that we’ll casually slip towards an extreme far right government with someone like her at the helm.
The Tories tried shifting right with the likes of Michael Howard and got battered by Blair until Cameron detoxified them. On the basis that they are likely to be the opposition, we need them to have to detoxify again.

Can’t remember much about Howard. Would have to check but always consider the Cameron government to be pretty right wing regardless.

You’d think they’d have to get rid of a lot of the old faces and have new names in order to have some sort of rebrand. I can’t see it myself. Party is far more poisonous now and filled with utter loons.

We’ve been slipping towards that for 13 years. When the Tories got in under Cameron, they were centre right and part of the coalition government, and have gone further right as time has passed, unable to be stopped by a variety of labour parties unable to win an election. Labour voters deserting the party now will bring that far right government in the next parliament. There’s a time for idealism and a time for pragmatism.

When Cameron was electioneering the Tories had suffered 3 defeats, two of them massive, and had shed a lot of the fossils who had ruined the country in the 80s. Cameron himself was young, vaguely photogenic (or at least wasn't William Hague) and not afraid of being on TV. He espoused 'compassionate conservatism' that involved hugging a hoodie or whatever.

Even with a friendly face and Brown being very unpopular (having presided over the not-his-fault financial crash and then being caught accurately calling someone a bigot) Cameron could only manage a coalition victory, but that was enough to sneak in by back door, like an Etonian might sneak his penis into a dead pig's mouth.

Of course when the Tories got into power they declared there was no money (off the back of note left by Labour) and implemented austerity, which is a fancy word for stripping public services away from the neediest. When that ploy was used up Cameron dug into the Euroscepticism civil war well, but had no actual battle plan and lost in the first and second skirmishes before waltzing away, leaving the nation up Theresa's Crack, I mean Creek, without a paddle.

And that was the good part of the Tory's 13 years in power.

After that we had Theresa 'Indicative votes' and 'Please let me pass a bill and I promise I'll quit' May, who led to 'I'm not even going to come up with a nickname because you'll all have your own favourite' Johnson.

And from there Truss, and Sunak. There's plenty to be said but I'm sure at this point we remember the highlights.

Sunak sitting on his hands Rwanda court ruling on Wednesday I guess that will decide this home Secretary fate.
Suella Braverman, the home secretary, is believed be in favour of placing a pledge to leave the ECHR at the centre of a general election campaign if the judgment goes against the Home Office.

Blinking lefty nasty annoying things like human rights - who needs them?

They are a nuisance getting in the way of Tory living standards.

Might send the homeless out there too - it would be a nicer lifestyle choice for them in tents that are warm. 🙄
