Succession Planning - Managerial Wishlist

The guy is a Dinosaur and incapable of adapting not just to the modern game but any game tactically. I mean what sort of bell plays the same losing team and same predictable ineffective subs in every single remaining game when Europe was still achievable right up until the final 2 games. It was the end for me. Doesn't deserve to Manage us.

TFG should get rid of him, this is not even stability now, it is regression.
Nailed it mate, want him gone ASAP !!

I would have been happy with a mid table finish at the start of the season but by the half way point, Europe became a very achievable goal. By the time we beat Chelsea we were even in the mix for champions league. Not that i think we are good enough for champions league of course but the shocking run in after Chelsea was a stark reminder of just how poor a Manager Moyes can be and the reason why there is no prosperous future with him at the helm.

Might be wrong but I can't imagine TFG would want anything other than stability first 2 years. ie. Moyes and a mid table finish. I mean if it wasn't for the disastrous run in, everyone would be perfectly happy at the club.

They're busy being focused on laying the foundations for better commercial opportunities /revenue/structures etc then will look at managers at the end of Moyes' contract next year.

Unless things go proper pear-shaped on the pitch next season.
It's funny that he made the same mistakes re square pegs in round holes, his usual misuse of substitute opportunities right throughout the season but still picked up enough points to have us contenders for European football right up until the last three games yet deserves sacking for the individual mistakes made by Tarkowski Keane and Mykolenko etc. Tough sport football.

That run in probably raised an eyebrow or two but doubt it will shift TFGs view that Moyes will get stability over a season. And I think that's all they want right now. Risk isn't. And a new manager brings risk.
A new manager brings risk whenever they are appointed. What mitigates that risk is appointing a quality proven managerial talent like Glasner who was available and reportedly wanted to stay in the PL.

Because he picks them regardless of the mistakes they make. Why is that a difficult concept for you?

Problem with this is giving Moyes complete control over a big rebuild, spending significant amounts of money to build a team in his image when he won't be the one to manage that team.

If the plan was to have him see out his contract and leave after 2 years of stability, they needed to appoint a Director of Football when he came in to plan for the long term.

Sounds sensible, the only flaw is that come the end of his contract a suitable manager might not be available.

Which is why a lot of people wanted to see us move now due to the availability of Glasner, and previously Iraola.

I've given up hope of that happening now but if it was up to me I 100% would boot him with no hesitation and get Glasner in.

In any case, this should be planned well ahead of time. If they're giving Moyes this season then they should already have an idea of who they want to take over next year, and how they're going to make that happen.

Honestly I think Glasner has much higher stock than taking a job with us right now
He won two trophies with Crystal Palace whilst playing really good football…
Honestly he should be viewed as one of the worlds best right now

Don’t disagree though if I’m running almost any club in Europe right now I’d ask him the question and happily sack whoever is in charge

I agree that you would think he would be very highly rated by football people but I can't really see where else he ends up tbh. City getting Maresca, RS Iraola, Utd Carrick. AC Milan or Leverkusen maybe?

We probably do underestimate the appeal of Everton atm because of how frustrated we are as fans. From a managers point of view you could say our squad is pretty close to a clean slate, very wealthy owners, PL club with massive fanbase and new stadium + sponsorship that should have us able to spend pretty significantly in the next 3 years with SCR rules. If we had people behind the scenes that knew what they were doing you could feasibly sell it as a pretty unique and attractive project.

Would definitely back us to be a more attractive job to an ambitious manager than any of the other current stable of mid table PL teams.
