If all that is true, why are we worried about Jelavic and Anichebe not scoring enough? I mean, Fellaini got 12 and Mirallas got 9 this year; Osman got 8, Pienaar 7 and Naismith 4.

Sunderland scored 41 goals in the league this year, we scored 55. Tell me again about Fletcher's all-round game?

The facts are simple: Jelavic had an off season. To replace him with someone who will score more, and consistently from season to season, will cost AT LEAST £16m (Based on Sevilla refusing West Ham's £14.5m bid for Negredo). The players available for less than that aren't as good at scoring goals, and don't bring their teammates into scoring positions as effectively either. Dumping Jelavic to pick up Fletcher would be dumb, because Jelavic is a better player. I have faith that Martinez can unlock the Jelavic who scored 11 in his first 16 games more easily than he can turn Fletcher into a better player.

Coz? Because a large contingent are still living in the same time-space of Sheffield United - prehistoric times.

If you have a team who can slot in 55 goals in the league I would care less who actually scored the goals. Even if 30 came from centre backs there will be no problem, nor there is any reason to stick them up front.

A team is defined as the function of its constituent parts, and not parts for parts sake.

(btw, Hibbert will score if you lump him in front. Though I do not see how he is good at the other roles required on the forward.)

I want to put the name Vedad Ibisevic forward. Very good player in my opinion and a year younger then Kone. Proven quality in a top league and in Europe.

Will be 21 soon so it's now or never for Connor. Realistically he's not gonna get much game time with us so I'd love to loan him out for a full season and let him show us what he's got.

The question is why didn't he last season? We had two strikers who didn't fire at all, for a fairly long period of time after Christmas. Yeah, Anichebe had his best season for us but neither him nor Jelavic managed to find the net often enough. Personally I think McAleny deserved a chance then. Was he injured at that time though? Or maybe his way of playing simply didn't fit into Moyes' 4-4-1-1?

I sure hope he gets his chance though, before we offload him for nothing only to want him back 3 years later. That's one thing I have to say Ferguson was pretty good at. Give youngsters, even mediocre ones, a fair amount of playing time so that if nothing else, their value would be higher when they were offloaded at some point later.

Can i just ask - are you American?

Can I have some opinions please?

Jelavic was utter turd for most of last season. That's pretty obvious right?

But, would you rather have a had Denis Straqualursi instead?

Nah, Victor done what he did but with a few goals too. I love the Straq though. Love him.

For all Denis Straqualursis' effort, he wasn't a very good footballer, definitely not someone to rely on to get you goals.

I would have rather have had Strac last season than Jelavic, but i think there is a chance Jela will come good again this season. Hopefully.

Strac wasn't that bad of a footballer, certainly for how we played, he did a good job, but when it came to finishing (although he was a very good finisher in argentina) he just couldn't seem to get the power or placement behind his shots.

Strength wise, i think he was probably the strongest striker i've ever seen play at everton. No one could push him off the ball, he brought the ball down excellently, won every header and laid it off to our team. At the time that's what we needed and he did it well, i'd still have him here to do that job today. He was also the hardest working player i've ever seen at everton too, the lad just got it and wanted to make the most of his chance. He was never and is never going to be the best footballer in the world, but i think it's unfair to say he was terrible. The attributes he has are limited but effective, but it's his attitude what makes him a good player for a team to have.

Am I wrong in thinking that Martinez was trying to but Anichebe for Wigan at one stage,I am sure that it was at least a rumour.

I think we have to set aside our ideas of each players worth to Everton, because each and every one of them is now being assessed in a different way by a new manager.

I think David Moyes possibly had more value on strong defensive characters and solid players who worked hard. It worked well for him and for us.
I cannot help but feel that from now on the more creative players may come more into focus.I think that the strikers may be asked to play in a different way and next season we may see different players becoming more important in the squad and team.

I am sure the same will happen at every club that has a new manager.

Love the strac but he was never good enough for a Prem team pushing for Europe, Jelavic is on his last legs here could be gone in Jan if he continues being ****e

I'm confident that if Bob tells our strikers to place all their efforts on scoring rather than anything else we'll see them do better than last season. I don't wholly blame Moyes for Jelavic's piss poor season either.
