Jags..class

Player Valuation: £70m
Do we have the worse strike force in the Premiership Victor with 8 goals in 32, he not a kid anymore, he frigging 25, when will he peak? His record is pretty terrible, maybe he an championship striker, don't know why Moyes stuck with him to be honest. Maybe give him to Wigan as part of a player swap. Jelevic also got us 8 goals from 43. So I'm expecting Martinez to sign a striker this summer. To be fair Moyes had not sorted this out for us. Too much faith in Victor was very silly cos to be honest he not really a natural striker unless Martinez can turn him into one but you cant turn **** into gold. Maybe Norwich fc have a worse strike force then us. I'm hoping he spends most of his budget on a striker.

Norwich may do currently, but theyve already signed van wolfswinkel from lisbon and are apparantly about to sign toivonen from psv which would easily be a top half strike force IMO.

I think martinez will sign a striker but most likely a back up super sub type to throw on, i think he will persist with Jela and try build system around getting it to him in the box so he can slot, but if he doesnt go back to decent form i can see him going for a 1st 11 striker in January

I would rather go for a striker this transfer cos if he doesn't hit form then we will lose points and be chasing teams.

A stream of consciousness that would impress Joyce that.

Close to it.

We need two in, and if an offer comes in for Jelavic then take it.

We need a top striker and we need a left footed Mirallas then we are a real threat to the top 4 next season.

It's so obvious too that we need a striker that Martinez has to know it! For example, for anyone who played FIFA or FM or whatever this last season, I guarantee the first players you bought were a striker and/or winger.

Yeah I do hope Martinez is disgusted at our choice of strike-force, even wigan strike-force was better.

Everton don't do strikers,by that I mean top strikers, not in the eleven years that Moyes was here,
Could be wrong ,I think we can go back to K C for the last one
He we don't seem to bring any through the ranks either.

Y is everyone turning on jela?? Yeah he's had a bad season but we all know he's got it, on his day he's dangerous. Moyes is a renouned striker killer, I think if Martinez can build round him we could spend the money elsewhere.

I for one did not mention Jella, but I am not prepared to wait until the January window to see if he can do it
We have F++++d about long enough up front, trying different formations etc,
After eleven years I think it's about time we had a top slotter IMO .

I'd say Yakubu in his first season was a proper striker, then Moyes got his hands on him over the summer, then 2nd year syndrome kicked in like it does with most of the decent ones we have had.

I think it was the system we played which destroyed the strikers confidence.

Jela is a top slotter and a natural one touch finisher, what he's not is a target man, run the channels, hold the ball up kind of striker which he's bin doing all season. All I'm saying is if Martinez can get him the service he can score goals, why spend a fortune on a new striker when we've already got a quality one, coz lets face it strikers arnt cheap, look at Carroll they want 15 mill for him and he's ****e!!

This.

Martinez will no doubt have watched the tape on Jelavic to establish what has gone wrong this season. If he's got the balls to tell Bill he'll get us into the CL, then solving Jelavic will presumably be simple. If it hasn't worked by January, well that's a different matter.

FWIW I think Anichebe has proved this year that he's most effective coming off the bench and having the odd start here and there, rather than starting every week. I could see him getting 12 - 15 goals a season in that role.

Buying a genuine RM/RW will cost less, and have a bigger impact: we won't be so reliant on Mirallas, Coleman may get the protection he needs, we could start to phase Pienaar out (by shifting Mirallas over to the left, which he seems to prefer) AND we'd have a bit of balance in midfield, leading to better service to our strikers.

Or we can spend nearly £20m on Negredo or similar, and get the same results as before.
