Steven Pienaar

He didn't spit his dummy out and demand a move, he just wanted parity with our highest earners, which he deserved but we wouldn't give it to him.
no I still think he wanted to go to London big pay days etc and he got the return ticket he was an ok player on his day but wasted on the whole abt 2 years of his career wud have got new contract if he'd carried his form on here but sat on Spurs bench earning it instead

Genuinely quality player (unlike those two others who left us today) in his day, but far too many injuries and I lost a lot of respect for him sticking around so long and becoming a huge drain on club resources. Should have moved on ages ago. Thanks for the good times and all the best Steven.

Was at his best in front of baines for 2/3 seasons. Had a good career. Woeful for last 3 years mainly due to injuries. Martinez brought him on recently. Looked like he could barely move. Tidy player in his day

Apparently injury issues with him are pretty serious. My mate has seen him a few times at a sport physio's here in amsterdam last year or two. Must be something recurring or chronic.

Was the player most likely to make something happen for us in the final third for years. Fun to watch, too.

Goodbye, you little Barry White sounding mofo you.

I'll never not be impressed with his ability to shield a ball and earn a foul...could make a career out of coaching that alone. Very enigmatic person (at least from a fans' perspective) but a quality footballer on his day. Nice chip, p-nutz.

Always liked Pienaar myself, him and Baines down that wing were a joy to watch. They knew where each other would be and made some great passes and runs. Injuries did him in and the move to Spurs hurt him. Might not see chemistry between two players like that again for Everton.

As has been said, injuries ruined a great player. So did a move to Tottenham.

The grass isn't always greener.

This just about sums it up. I should also add that he was one of the best at linking up with his fullback in the PL era. No one better comes to my mind in the last 12 or so years.

Injuries did him eventually otherwise he'd be a bit part player for at least one more year. Hope he gets a contract with one of the newly promoted teams.

The braided bass talking boss Christian (copyright @chicoazul 2012) was a boss little player.

Shame he didn't get winners medal in 2009.

In fact, I'm a little saddened that he, Ossie and Hibbo didn't get a decent send off prior to Tim Howard's (deserved) fanfare after the Norwich game. Anyway....

Not gonna miss him a whole lot as long as we get that versatile replacement. Would like to see us focus on playes that can play several positions. That reduces the impact squad-player injuries have, of course...
