Steven Pienaar

Was also told that Leighton had a word with Martinez, at the warm weather training stint, but we are a bit short on that left side ,or he would most probably have been another one frozen out.

I don,t have a problem with a strong manager but I suspect that the players are being penalized for pointing out problems with the preparation of the players and tactics. The measure of a strong manager is take on board constructive criticism so that he improves the club but sadly that does not seem to be the case.

Interesting read that - if they are trying to make contact why not just say to his representatives, "sorry there won't be a renewal, feel free to find a new club"

Let the people who are running down sort themselves out. They aren't in our first team. Some really odd things going on at the club.

Martinez has falled out with a couple of players at least is it?
Virtually all managers do, especially when the team isn't doing well or the players are reaching the end of their careers.

There are lots of things to bash Martinez with, imo this isn't one of them - tbh think he should have been more ruthless with a lot of the older players sooner.

Pienaar was my favourite player from when he joined us to when he defected to Spurs, since coming back has never reached the hieghts of his previous performances probably due to a combo of age and injury.

It's a shame things have ended this way for him at the club but it does point to some sort of fallout if he has told Martinez some home truths good on him.

One of his best spells for us was when he came back from Spurs

For that loan period he was great. During Moyes' last season he was a bit hit and miss but he was worth having in the team, he added goals to his game that season. Since Martinez came in he's been crap or injured for 2 and a half years.

May as well just let him move on before the loan deadline passes. He isn't going to get in ahead of Simon Davies or even Kone on the left, and it's not use having him around the place when he's openly unhappy.

I hope he has a decent swansong somewhere less physically demanding than the Premier League. He's been my favourite players since pretty much his first season here.

It highlights what is becoming more and more evident by the day, Martinez has not got a clue. Even though Pienaar is coming to the end of his days, he is still one of the most skill players we have - Surely a fit Pienaar which he claims he is, is worth his place on the bench ? Whats the point of having Kone and Niasse (Particularly when you wont bring them on) on the bench? Surely when you play at home with 1 striker you don't need 2 on the bench?

Arsenal did us over, with little intricate one -twos . Probably our only player capable of that is 100% fit and not even in the match squad?

Looked sharp last time he played. I just assumed he was injured again.

Funny how barely anyone fell out with Moyes (outwardly anyway) and it's happened so many times with Martinez, given Moyes' dour nature and Bobby's gentlemanly one....
