mate, i watched him in this 'good' game he had and he must have knocked more balls out of play than anyone else, match fitness or not.

His brains there, but his body is no where near the level you need to perform in the prem.

He's racking up a massive, massive wage for doing nothing.
Still usually the best player on the pitch when he plays, only one he was a bit iffy was Carlisle

Disagree completely mate think people are letting their sentimental views get in the way of seeing what he offers now and how he plays now and he is poor.

Great mind but his body is crap now

He was very good against Swansea. Poor vs Carlisle.

Think we should cut our ties at the end of the season but he could still be useful up until then.

gotta agree. He's not much better than Ossie now but he doesn't get the stick Osman gets because of sentiment. The only thing he still does well is draw in the fouls but every time he does you worry that's him out for another 2 months.

He's approximately one million times better than osman is right now, if you can't see that then it is you who has the blinkers on, linked the play quicker and more effectively, made more tackles, covered more ground, the only comparison to be made is an extremely one side one

I must admit I wanted him gone this season. What as struck me over the last few weeks is how naïve we are as a side and how we benefit from experience in and around the squad.

I think Osman and Peinaar offer us that in abundance. Take the Swansea home game I thought he was brilliant in what was a difficult game to play in. He was calm, took the ball in difficult areas and took the pressure of others. Osman against City at home was also brilliant for us in an understated way. These are the lads when the chips are down the young players can look too to help them out.

Sometimes that can just be showing for a pass when the opponents are all over you and making you feel you have an out ball. If we can get Gibson, Hibbert, Mcgeady off the wage bill in the summer that should clear some space. Alongside that sign Osman/Peinaar down to another year on reduced terms/a more incentivised contracts that would be the way I would go.

Pienaar looking for a move

Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar says he is fully fit and ready to play as he eyes a loan move to the English Championship.

Everton said last week they will not discuss a new contract with Pienaar until the end of the season, but with his current deal due to expire in June, the 34-year-old is eager to secure his future, after spending eight seasons as a player with the Toffees.
“I’m 100 percent fit and felt in good form when I played some games in January,” Pienaar told KickOff.com. “I haven’t been in the squad for the last six weeks, I don’t know why, and obviously this is a concern for me. But that is the coach’s decision and I must respect that.
“Waiting until the end of the season to hear whether or not Everton wish to extend my contract is unreasonable, I feel. It’s not the way I envisaged ending my career at a club that has been such a major part of my life.
“My representatives have tried a number of times, unsuccessfully, to get hold of the club to talk about my future and get some indication, so I remain in the dark. Obviously I need to keep my options open because I would still like to keep playing for another couple of seasons at least.”
There was some interest from China in January, and Pienaar says he is open to any opportunity in Europe, the USA, Middle East or Asia.
“I have always been up for a challenge and if the environment is right then I would love to give something new a go.”
But for his immediate prospects over the next few months, the former Bafana Bafana skipper says he would be open to a loan move to the English Championship before that window of opportunity closes this coming Thursday.
“I am really just looking for game-time at this stage of my career so in my current situation I wouldn’t mind dropping down to the Championship to help a club there until the end of the season. That would be a great challenge.
“I still feel like I have got a lot to offer and at this stage of my career, what’s most important for me is playing games.”
