Steven Isaac Pienaar

Pienaar has been important to us and is influential to us. Yet like i say if he leaves for another club i think he will find chances limited especially at Spurs and Chelsea, hes a good footballer but as Moyesy says its a good fit for him at Everton, he wont be as influential at another club as the priority for provison of a platform for him to play to his strengths wont be there. In other words he wont get the platform he does at Everton - which to be fair to him he earned, equally he is not a natural wideman so if he went to another club with a big squad he would only play certain games .

Ill be dissapointed if he leaves and i hope he stays, he certainly deserves improved terms, if he wants to break the wage structure and i know that an if, then i say goodbye and thaks for the fish, im convinced he wont be as good at another club. We're lucky to have him, but he was equally lucky he ended up here. Im not so sure we havnt improved him as a player - Moyesy seems to make players - Pienaar being one of many - his game has developed under Moyes tuitalage.

Like i say i want him stay, but if he takes the mick, i wouldnt be dissapointed with the younger more natural Zog and able replcement in Donovan - all ifs and buts i know.

I would say hes a third best midfeilder, soon to be fourth!

Anyway hes going to sign - due to all the above!

He is the most fouled player in the premiership apparently. That's a lot of free kicks.

Worth his weight in gold, would not be easily replaced IMO. Does a job all over the pitch.

Ofcourse he's imporoved at Everton, but that's simply down to maturity, he's got better with age, which is the case with the majority of players playing the game. It isn't down to Moyes being a superb coach or a magician, Pienaar is simply a talented player with a very good attitude. Moyes gets credit for having an excellent eye for a player and giving him a chance, but that's as far as it goes, Pienaar was already a good player before he came here, he certainly didn't give Pienaar what he has, Pienaar's ability has always been there.

As for his position, how many natural wide players are about nowadays? Very few, there are many different styles of players who play on the flanks. Even the much mentioned N'Zogbia is a left footed winger who plays on the right for Wigan. Pienaar's versatility will always give him a chance, he can play anywhere in midfield, he works his socks off and creates more goals than most from open play. He could go to a club in Spain or Italy and do very well, he could play for any of the top eight in England and be in and around the first teams.

Believe me, he'd be a massive loss. Players of his style are hard to come by, I think I'd cry if we replaced him with Landon Donovan, no disrespect, but the American isn't a patch on Steven Pienaar. And whilst I'd like someone with a bit more pace and directness we still need a wide player like Pienaar, someone who can create, link things up, get on the ball and open things up with his quickness of thought and intricate passing. Lets not forget, since he's been here, Pienaar has created more goals than anyone else in the side. Only Arteta is more important to us, Pienaar's is comfortably better than anyone else you can mention, comfortably. Heitinga, Rodwell and Fellaini have alot of ability and potential, but they haven't proven themselves on his level as of yet.

I would maybe give a little more credit to Moyes to be honest, his first two seasons despite the obvious talent were patchy when he was good he was good when he was bad his influence was minmal, some of his passing when he was bad was attricious - hes really hit an excellent patch in the past year and half, yet he needs the provison of the platform, id argue his influence on the team isnt as much when Arteta is in the team as Arteta is given the emphasis and the platform to play to his strengths. That said he works his socks of.

Again Moyes has used him as a wide player who comes centrally switching with an overlapping fullack on occasion - he played primarily more centrally for both Dortmund and Ajax - he was actually signed as a replacement for Rosicky. Yes you need talent - you pay for that obviously but its a combination of factors that help a player develop and Everton and Moyes have given him the platform, oppurtunity, confidence and coaching to develop as a player especially in that position additionaly playing to a system that suits his game with him specifically in mind.

Its an intresting debate, i dont personally think he would get on great at Chelsea or Spurs if he went there as i think he wouldnt get the platform there he does at Everton, no doubt he would get oppurtunites, but the empahsis on thier play wouldnt be centered on bringing him specificaly into the play or being a main danger man that he gets at Everton or for that matter SA. Thats why im certain he wouldnt get on better anywhere else but Everton would 4 goals and 4 assists a season be enough to sustain a place at Spurs or Chelsea up against Cole, Malouda, Ballack, Essien, Bentley, Lennon, Modric and Kranjkar - im not so sure at least not every game.

He would be a loss to us, in the contect of this team and the system but not enough of one to dictate at any cost wages etc, like i say he deserves improved terms but if hes demanding ridiculous terms i would say good bye - all ifs i know. I actually think he will sign because of all this and its basiclly what Moyesy is saying to. I actually think there is a dearth of many specilist palyers in world football now but widemen or wingers isnt one of them - i can think of many i would confidently bring in if he were to leave.

Like i say its an opinion thing hes certainly behind Arteta, Fellaini and soon enough Rodders (but not quite yet) in terms of our best midfeilders.

i think pienaar wil sign a new contract , but at a big cost to the wage budget.
if he didnt sign then i think a move to arsenal would suit him more than a move to spurs or chelsea.

if he did leave , it would be sad that we lost such a good player. but in hindsight i will probably say.... we got him on the cheap he played well while he was here , we got good money back for him...successful everton signing all round.(+ the transfer fee and the saving of wages gives moyes a chance to work his transfer magic again , we could end up with 2 or 3 steven pienaars of the future )

According to some tabloids he's ruled out for 1 month. I think Naismith has earned his start for West Ham but I'd be more excited to see Deulofeu get a few starts under his belt and really cement his place in the Everton team. I think he's ready.

we'll almost certainly have Luakaku starting and a good chance of McCarthy replacing Osman so probably best to start with Naismith as 3 players making their first start might be a bit disruptive, but I'd give the lad a good 20 mins

I think you are right. Only one change in starting lineup - Lukaku in for Jelavic. McCarthy and Deulofeu on in second half.

We are going to miss Pienaar holding up of the ball and bringing Baines into play. Baines just doesn't seem as much affective without Pienaar. Would rather have Oviedo on the left and Mirallas on the right and use Naismith as a sub.

Good shout, could be a chance for Oviedo to come in if Naismith doesn't perform, we have plenty of options but how do we keep the whole squad happy?

Yeah that´ll probably be it. For the duration, Naismith will start and the Deulofeu will come on when need a change.

We are also no at reliant on our left back to be our most creative player anymore.
