Dave? You here?...

"Oh, looks like the Pienaar smearing campaign has begun then, just need a few more 'bad influence' stories in the local media and we can say 'good riddance'."

Yeah tough to sort through the media nonsense w/ this one. Would be shame to see him go but you kind of get the feeling he may have that "bug". Some players just never seem completely content. To be fair, it's his life he's got every right to leave if he thinks there are better opportunities or pastures he'd like to explore.

I've gone back & forth w/ chances of him leaving, usually end up somewhere in the 50/50 range. Tough call though. I will say that, barring injuries, club will be ok w/o him. That's a big if, & either way you don't want to lose him, but just saying. He's very good, but I'd say a good notch below Fro boy & Arteta (& soon to be Jack the Ripper?). Not a knock at all, he's solid. But at the end of the day, Everton's been good to him, if he doesn't want to be here....hey!

intersting words from our leader if as hinted he sp is working for a move then shame on him or is moysie getting impatient with him wanting to wait to see what else comes after the w/c again to see if anyone comes in or more likley its his agent stalling for me dough imho

I love Piennar, but its a great point Moyes makes - hes at a club that suits him and who appreciate him - If Spurs and Chelsea are sniffing him out i would like him to consider the names SWP and David Bentley. If he goes to Spurs he can give Kyle Naughton our love.

To be honest im not as pushed as others about Pienaar - we make players - we helped to make him the player he is - if he fancies his chances in the footballing void again for wonga then so be it - he will regret it IMO.

If we managed to get the Zog and Donavon with a fee id say goodbye Steve and thanks for all the fish.

This quote sounds well more hopefull then the Daily mail one!

“We are speaking to Steven and things are ongoing. He’s at a club which really suits him and Everton have been very good to him.

“There’s something ongoing with Jack Rodwell at the moment, too.
“He’s got about four years to go I think. But he’s in talks now about a new contract.

“I don’t feel I need to sell anyone. They’re all under contract. Yeah, there will be some with contracts a bit lower than you want but every club has got the same scenario. I think some of them will look and say, ‘Everton is right for me’.

“It’s a good club. It’s a progressive club and the manager is ambitious to take the club forward.
“A lot of them are really supported here and backed. They know the workings of the club and you know to go somewhere else for a little bit more is not always the answer.

“I’m not sitting here with any worries. I’m laid back about it. I’m quite comfortable. Some people know when clubs suit them.

“I could name a couple of players who have left and who might now regret it.
“We have done well to keep our players and I think in the main the players who have stayed will say it’s been the right decision.

“I think if you walk round these players today and ask them what they thought, they would say we have got a really good team and we’re very close to where we hoped we would be.

“We have a good side. We have shown this season that we can compete, despite having boys out, and we’re all excited about what we have got here.

“We’re really focused on trying to win the next game to get us the chance of somehow bringing European football again to Everton.”

Loling at the evolution of quotes in different papers:

“I’d like to add a couple to keep things going, but I don’t think we need many changes. We’re all excited about what we’ve got here.

“I’m actually relaxed about the whole situation with players because if anybody wanted to leave it would only be poorer for them. It’s tended not to work for people who left. "The players getting mentioned with the speculation know this is the place for them to be.

“Everton has been the best club for them and they’ll probably end up thinking this is the right place for them. In the main the players who stay will say it’s been the right decision.

“I think the players here recognise we’re very close to being a top side and if I was them I’d be saying there’s no need to go.

“It’s a good club, a progressive club, the manager’s ambitious, trying to take the club forward. Going somewhere else for a little bit more isn’t always the answer.”

Steven Pienaar and Jack Rodwell are among those who have attracted attention from other clubs, but Moyes maintains he is confident they will sign new deals. Moyes said: “Talks with -Steven are ongoing. I’m not in a fluster. There will be less money about and that is something players will need to consider.
“Steven is at a club that really suits him and you have to decide what’s best for you. Everton has been very good for Steven.

“Things are ongoing with Rodwell, as well. He’s got four years on his contract anyway, but we are in talks with him.”

Pienaar features on an impressive list of bargain buys that also includes Mikel Arteta, Tim Cahill, Tim Howard, Phil Neville and Phil Jagielka. But Moyes is equally proud of the home-grown talent such as Rodwell and Leon Osman.

Moyes added: “I’ve said for years Osman is underrated. He could play at a higher level because he can handle the ball, keeps it well, play in two or three positions and has a football intelligence.
“He has one leg slightly longer than the other and wears a built-up boot and can look a bit ungainly sometimes. But he’s a true club man, takes more responsibility now and is a really good player for us.”
Everton have lost only twice in 18 and Moyes said: “We’re focused on trying to make Europe again and that could change things.

“It would give us more revenue and we might need a couple of extra players if we’re in Europe.”

Steven Pienaar is a massive player for us, comfortably our best midfielder after Arteta and easily the best wide midfielder at the club. Not only is he important to our football but he's our most hardworking player and covers his fullback superbly. He'd be a massive, massive loss if he where to leave. And he could play for a number of good clubs, saying he couldn't is doing him a massive disservice.

Granted, we gave him a platform to build on, but Pienaar has made himself, his ability and appetite have been nothing short of excellent over the past few seasons. It's not like Moyes has given him a magic potion that turns him from an average player to a creative playmaker, he is actually a very talented footballer. I think we'd struggle to replace him, and given his contract situation I don't think we'd get close to the money we value him at. Hopefully he signs and puts all this to bed.

Osman has one leg longer than the other??

Wow.

See ya later Steven. Hold the door for Jack won't you.

Say hello to Joleon and Wayne respectively won't you boys.

Hope he does stay as Toccy says he has been a massive influence, imagine being without him while Mikel has been out, works non-stop and takes a lot of knocks during every game.
He is a player we have signed though, so he doesn't have that 'one of our own' loyalty, if indeed that even still exists. If he was to move on then nobody could ever accuse him of not giving his all, and I would expect that it would be a far bigger club than Spurs that he would move to, 4th may give a c.l. but only c.l. qualifier and I can'tsee whoever snatches that place doing anything in the comp. so in effect spuds wouldn't be anything other than a bigger pay check and a home in the capital, I'd see him going abroad if he were to leave us.

You can expect that kind of crap to come out to foul the air. Of cpurse the agent and interested clubs will deny any involvement. Remember Hughes and his lies.
