He could go back to the 3 at the back. Martina isn't good enough defensively for right back in a flat back four.
Except that when Morgan plays, Gana actually plays as a B2B which is why he's pressing at the opponent's corner flag and taking shots from the edge of the box .... just because Gana also has the ability to play CDM doesn't mean he can't (or isn't currently) playing a different role.Yeh its one of Gana and Morgan in my opinion.

If some of you are suggesting that Davies is already a better B2B midfielder than Gana, that's a different story ... but what you're doing is essentially "punishing" Gana for being able to play two different roles and instead trying to pigeon-hole him as a holding midfielder.
Although Lukaku won the POTS award, Gana was in reality the best player in the team last year (spending effectively 2 months away in mid-season was probably the difference). Then, in the first competitive match of the new season, Gana is once again the best player in the team ... and yet without hesitation there are some fans cutting him from their starting lineup before the first EPL game, primarily because he's not as sexy as Schneiderlin, not as youthful (and local) as Davies (and without the flowing golden locks), and not as recently (and expensively) purchased as Klaassen.
It's an interesting phenomenon for mine, and makes me wonder whether those same fans would leave him out of the line-up if his name was Kante? Assume the answer would be no, despite the fact that over their two shared seasons in the league, Gana has statistically outperformed his counterpart.
This. Gana is an African prince. Gonna be exciting to watch him and Schneids together for a full season.Except that when Morgan plays, Gana actually plays as a B2B which is why he's pressing at the opponent's corner flag and taking shots from the edge of the box .... just because Gana also has the ability to play CDM doesn't mean he can't (or isn't currently) playing a different role.

come back and lecture me when we out perform (statistically or otherwise) Leicester (with Kante) & Chelsea (with Kante)Except that when Morgan plays, Gana actually plays as a B2B which is why he's pressing at the opponent's corner flag and taking shots from the edge of the box .... just because Gana also has the ability to play CDM doesn't mean he can't (or isn't currently) playing a different role.

Thank you sir. This wins the false equivalency award for GOT this summer.come back and lecture me when we out perform (statistically or otherwise) Leicester (with Kante) & Chelsea (with Kante)
This was my point. If Morgan and Gana were the same player sure we don't need both but they play miles different roles in the team.
..I recall @bluestevon challenging the partnership, suggesting Gueye doesn't offer much creativity when he has possession. There's no doubt he has great ability to intercept and pick players pockets but we might at times see a Klaassen/Schneiderlin or a Davies/Schneiderlin axis because it offers a bit more going forward.
It's an interesting discussion.
Last season I'd have agreed but he looks far more well rounded this summer.
The beauty is this year we should have options, relegating Barry to the bench and as a late replacement when needed to see off games. I'm not a Barry hater, but at some point we need to have other options - this should be the year...presume you mean Gueye. He's a breath of fresh air but it's all about blend and I'm sure we'll see alternative CM partnerships. Klaassen played b2b at times for Ajax and you can see him joining in more with the likes of Rooney and Klaassen than Gueye. Saying that, the team would lose something defensively.

He wasn't meant to be a regular starter, but he played an awful lot last year - 23 starts to be exact. That was crazy. If all goes well he doesn't start any games in the Prem this season, gets into 5-10, and plays in Cups and in Europe..to be fair, I doubt Barry was a regular starter last season. His playing time will obviously reduce.
For now, until we get a proper out and out forward/new CB and LB in:
-----------Pickford
Kenny--Jagielka*--Keane--Baines
-----Gueye---Schneiderlin
Davies----Rooney---Mirallas
------------Sandro
That would be fairly solid in defence and very lively in attack.
*yes, Williams is that much of a liability.
A busy player like Davies can make up for the lack of blistering pace we have now.Who are you and what have you done with David
The inclusion of Davies at RM could be a master stroke
