Match Thread Spurs V Everton - 24th May 4pm

You've literally just posted that you didn't say the manager doesn't sign the players at West Ham and immediately followed up by saying Sullivan and Steidten signed all the players that made West Ham crap. Not Moyes. But your position is that Potter, and his five game run, did sign all the players and royally screwed over Nuno, who definitely isn't rubbish and has managed 32 games for West Ham, leaving him powerless to resist relegation. You, sir, are pathological. Every manager and player that you rate is at best mediocre and is more often than not terrible.
No I didn’t. When Moyes first came in in the second spell they had no recruiting team at all. A couple of data analysis guys. Pellegrini’s DOF was fired along with him. So for a number of seasons it was Moyes and Sullivan. They tried to keep spending quite low. Moyes then brought in a guy from Man City to head up recruitment and they had a big summer spend, but the signings were hit or miss and Sullivan and the board decided to try a different approach and got the German guy Steidten in.

Steidten didn’t like the fact Moyes had a veto on signings and they basically were at each others throats, missing out key signings after Rice exited, but the still had a decent summer with guys like Kudus, Alvarez and JWP coming in. Moyes was then offered a new contract where he would have less say and he refused to sign it. He then left and Lopetegui came in and they spent all the cash they had been hoarding, but with even less success. Fast forward to today and they are on the verge of relegation.

You're literally saying it again. "Moyes was stymied by Steidten, otherwise they'd have done better." When it's Potter, however, you put the blame for recruitment entirely at his feet. You can keep writing lengthy essays saying the same thing in different ways. Essentially you claim that Potter had more control over transfers than Moyes but it's all just made up nonsense.

We were terrible...lucky AF to go in ahead.
Both teams are basically canceling each other out. For me Beto up front is a problem as we don’t have a guy who can hold up the ball and bring others into play.

Had we kept Dom we’d probably have been a much better side. Letting him leave has turned out to be a bad decision.

Steidten had been fired by that point. Potter brought in his own recruiter.

West Ham is a great example of how it is for a Premier League team that doesn’t have access to data like Brighton and Brentford. They actually can afford to spend more, but cannot find the same bargains.

Yes, this year's DCL would have been nice for us BUT i think he wanted the fresh start and honestly, hes backed himself and performed, all the credit in the world to him and his missus:) Besides, I think Leeds play 4-4-2...and oh, they have fullbacks that attack:))

Course he did.
For goodness sake, it’s public record:

“Kyle Macaulay has been reunited with Graham Potter after being appointed as the new Head of Recruitment at West Ham.

“Meanwhile, Technical Director Tim Steidten is set to leave the club. The German joined in July 2023 and had overall responsibility for scouting and recruitment. He had previously been ‘Manager Sport’ at Bayer Leverkusen.

“Potter refused to be drawn on Steidten’s position, saying: “No, no, nothing to report for me. We have had a full week’s training, so again my focus has been on the players and the staff here. We are working with the club and doing our best to help the club improve, that’s all I can say.”

“West Ham have not had a Head of Recruitment since Rob Newman left the club at the end of last season, along with David Moyes and his backroom staff.”
