I thought the 1st 25 mins before the goal was pretty even. What disappointed me in that period was Iwobi got in some great positions and had digne overlapping on 3 occasions and instead of playing in with a simple pass elected to cut and never even got a shot off to test the keeper.

Agreed, iwobi was abit like Bolasie in that he felt the need to hold the ball too long and turn their players for no reason at all.

Surely ancelotti can see Iwobi/Bernards poor showings compared with Gordons performance...

Easy to slag Iwobi but James was woeful today

All about credit in the bank, isn't it though. James didn't train all week and is clearly the best player at the club. How many times has Iwobi put in that put performance and been hauled off at HT?

Was a very lethargic performance all round,no pressing,harrying or chasing,sloppy passing and a huge gap between the midfield and the lone striker,Iwobi and the ghost really were not the answer today,credit to Southampton for the win and hopefully appeal against the red card

A defeat is a one off but the worry for me is we completely gave up in the last 25 minutes or so which isn't brilliant.

I think it was damage limitation from the minute Digne went off.
We never really looked threatening all game though.
2nd to every ball. Giving it away cheaply.

I think Carlo got it wrong today.

Lets be real, Carlo still has a massive job to do. He didnt give up. The majority of the players did. Carlo needs time to get rid and replace the deadwood still. Yes he chose Iwobi and he had a shocker. lessons hopefully to be learned but with the selection we have, we don't have many other options, I wasn't betting on a good season until Carlo's has time make the team his own.

DCL was absoloutely swamped today. They defended very well and their urgency to win the ball back was commendable. Didnt see too many other runs into the box to support him especially towards the end.
Godfrey got ripped apart early, and the rest of the defence was asleep. Southhampton did play very well it has to be said. I think it was a mixture of luck and bad placement that the ball kept falling to their players when we made tackles in the first 30.

One bad game so far. Not so bad.

Lets hope for a better next few games.

Why did we not sign another forward?

Every summer we leave at least 1 glaring gap

I guess you can only make so many changes in 1 window....like we really needed to sign a right back and a Keeper aswell...

Hard to make more signings unfortunately until we can find other clubs stupid enough to sign Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Besic, bernard, Davies

Gave motm to Keane, he gets a 5 out of 10 compared to everyone else who gets a 2 or a 3 out of 10

Thought Keane lost his head and was poor aside from a couple of headed clearances.

Mina for me looked far more composed...went for Gordon though.
