Not the end of the world but three subs ,one never good enough ,one not ready and one who should hang his head in shame .That along with a player who could have left and by his performance today actually has .
We simply lacked belief and it shows how much we rely on Richy ,as well as they knew about James and how it would leave Ben exposed and played to that .Saying that Southampton played really well .

Carlo already said the challenge comes after a setback and not when everything is going well.

I think he'll be more disappointed than surprised today.

Personally think the whole Pickford thing all week has been the wrong sort of distraction for them, we looked lethargic and toothless, much like large parts of last season.

The biggest issue is that the finge players singularly never make an impact when called upon - Sigurdsson, Iwobi, Bernard awful today. They aptly showed why they cannot merit a place in the team.
It’s been a disgrace to be fair, Pickford made a mistake and it’s down to stupid ass commentators that he and his family have been receiving death threats. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Soton played really well. The movement is something we couldn't handle. Coleman and Rich sorely missed and our midfield was overrun time and time again. The replacements were poor. DCL was owned and James couldn't influence the game despite some great cross field balls. Iowibi, Godfrey, Bernard, Gordon offered nowt. Don't know what siggy was doing at CB for the 1st goal and he deflected for the 2nd goal. Question is....was it just a bad day at the office or was it the fact that the replacements are the reason for the down turn? If we had another type of forward on the bench then DCL would most definately been subbed. The old fashioned CF just didn't work today. No Digne, No rich and probably no Coleman for the next matches mean we have to find a balance and look for other alternatives to front teams.

A bad day for pretty much everyone, a few proving why they're not good enough for the club if they want to win things though. We need a better squad depth to deal with games like today but we have far too many players on big wages that need to go first, I think it's pretty obvious that there's a few even in todays starting line-up that would be allowed to leave if there were suitable offers.
