My serious question...I can't think of a good reason that the left of center Obama would want to get involved in Syria. If the US does get involved, do you think it's the UK pushing the US to do them a favor?

Obama is further to the right of Cameron on many issues - and I hardly think the US owe the UK any favours.

They would rather have access to Med ports and weapons markets than let Putin have them, which is what Putins support of the Syrian Govt is all about. Pretty worrying if I am even 1/2 right.

They appear to be proposing air strikes, not boots on the ground, so it's well within our capability (even if it is wrong and foolish).

Not really. The USA is far to big for them to take on, the British & French could batter Russia or China. Do not underestimate the power and capability of the NATO alliance. This is why Russia is already flying it's people out........

Anyone reckon we should invade China whilst we're at it? I fear it's to late to have any significant impact given the population of 600,000,000,000,000,000,000 but surely it's worth a pop?

Someone shoved a newborn baby down a toilet there recently I think so we could use that as a trigger. Also my local Chinese that I was planning on ordering from have decided to shut on a Tuesday night for some random reason, and I'm not happy.
