Sir Landon Of Donovan

Arteta I would say is the only one better on the ball, than Donovan.. my opinion only..

Arteta, Pienaar, Osman and Bilyaletdinov are all more creative and technically gifted than Donovan.

His game is heavily reliant on pace, and he doesn't possess a major amount of dribbling ability, he's neat and tidy and comfortably in possession but that's as far as it goes for me. His strengths are his movement, intelligence and pace.

More technically gifted - I agree.
Donovan creates quite a few chances for teammates to score though, so I'd say he was pretty creative.

How are you going to respond to this one mate?

For me Arteta, Pienaar, Bily and Osman are technically better with the ball, where as Jags, Baines, Heitinga and Fellaini play more important roles than any Donovan would take on.

Yet Donovan can conistantly cross a ball, something for which which are technically better players did lack last season.

Donovan's main problem has always been his unwillingness to run at players. Part of it is I guess is that he's not an exceptional dribbler. Pienaar for example has much better touch and close control, dribbling, etc. But Donovan's very technical in a lot of ways, he puts in a good ball (one of the mysteries of his stay at Everton is why he didn't take more corners, even though he didn't take that many I can think of at least two goals off his corners) and is a good finisher, outside of Tottenham.

Arteta is the most technical guy on the team. Pienaar's probably more technical because of his control but there are things Donovan does better. Osman is iffy, again he has better control and touch but Donovan is better in other areas. I think Donovan's better than Billy but I don't rate him like some people on here do.

Edit: I think Billy's good, I just would like to see more consistency and I don't think he's really at his best out wide.

he'd have to provide a pretty good argument for making that move, for me. i hope all this recent success hasn't gone to his head, thats why i didnt like him in the first place. he needs to stay grounded, hes punching above his weight to be honest.

She's right, and he does have creative qualities. He moves well off the ball, crosses effectively with either foot (from the byline or cutting inside onto his left foot) and is good at exploiting space.

But he's easily crowded out and when he hasn't got space he looks a little uncomfortable. The likes of Osman, Arteta and Pienaar are much more adept in this area, better close control, sharper passing ability and more ideas when in possession of the ball.

That's my only worry with Donovan, his adaptability, how would he perform against teams who regularly park the bus and cut off his space?
