Sir Landon Of Donovan

Shrewd on LA's part. I don't want to trash MLS since I'd like it to grow and have had fun watching LA this year - this move doesn't surprise me. They protected their interest, I just hoped LD would want the change to improve his game. Would much rather have watched him here than there.

But they did what they needed to do to keep their star around. The 2011 opening fixtures for MLS were just released. LA vs Seattle is the first game of the s
eason on primetime ESPN. You better believe MLS is banking on LD, Becks, Juan Pablo Angel/Ronaldinho being around for that game in front of 40K fans on national TV.

The business won out here, can't say I'm surprised. Hugely disappointed yes, but not surprised.

Well, let's face it, if we were really pinning the hopes of our season on one player, then we really need to take a good look at ourselves as a football club.

Well said, BLS. Not that it's pinning hopes, feels just like getting cock teased, rubbed, massaged but denied in the end. Granted I enjoyed the ride but not pleased at all with the lack of finish. Would have been nice because Everton knew exactly what they were getting not like they might with another player coming in on loan.

It's like ya bird (girlfriend) has been coming home for the past 6 months...

but a few days before she's due back you find out she's not coming coz someone (Galaxy) put a block on it.

That's how it feels.

Yes, this, exactly.

Really not happy about this.. I knew there was only a small chance he'd come, but I guess I got my hopes up and now that it's really happened I'm absolutely gutted.

Kind of sucks that we had less than 24 hours to enjoy our glorious triumph over Man City before this was announced.. :(

It'll be sad not to see him back but, Everton is littered with names that didn't come at all so, we can look back & enjoy the memories of how well we & Landon fitted.

We all know that at the end of the day, Everton FC will still be there for us.

Most of us in the states are gutted. Nobody wanted him back at the MLS. I really wanted him with Everton. Part of me is mad Everton never moved to sign him full term. Gah. Nice result yesterday though. Really bummed about this though.

That's not true. Most MLS fans wanted him to stay. I would have liked to see Landon with Everton at some point but to go on loan and come back to a full season would be detrimental to his health.

It would have been massively fun to see him play for Everton. January - March was some of the most fun I've had watching football.

But Everton will go on - through the ups and downs - and be just fine. They have new fans for life (me and Landon, of course!).

[Can't say I'll have as much fun watching him in MLS tho. In fact, I know I won't. And I'm a Galaxy fan!]
