Sir Landon Of Donovan

It was I think the under 17 or 21 world champs, or maybe the olympics? - he brought a teddy bear or something like that. He was a teenager, but a male teenager, so got ribbed and was subsequently reported in the press later when he got popular.

Not a big deal really.. I took one of my daughters bears with me overseas.. Slept with it every night.. I was 24..

I am trying my best to be optimistic with all this. Thanks to our Kay, she paints a very Walt Disney picture of Landon, the All American American who loves his mom, dogs and helps old ladies across the street kinda guy- An Image he has built up over his many years in the public eye in the States. The gutter press over here, love nothing more than breaking down those images for no apparent reason other than trying to sell newspapers and have a chuckle to themselves. They do it to our Politicians when the country is on a downward spiral and they even do it to our sports stars on the eve or even during major tournaments.

The only real silver lining to all this is Landon's public image over here. Within the Everton family, we love him like a long lost cousin who has suddenly turned up for the Christmas holidays out of the blue ! But, I think your average football fan here couldn't give a rats ass about some yank on loan to Everton. In fact, I don't think any of our players would register on most peoples radars when it comes to a scandal ! Not that I'm putting our guys down - I think it would bother most people as much as a guy on loan to Aston Villa. Yes , he's LANDON DONOVAN, but I think any scandal, no matter how contrived, would be yesterdays news very quickly. Ashley Cole on the other hand - even his own country men want him to fail!!

I'm putting a positive spin on this? maybe - But , we need to get it over to Landon and his people that you can throw as much crap at our guy and it will just make him stronger :) Cos he's got the entire Everton fan base - globally behind him :)

So what do we do, what can we do? Inundate his Facebook? Send him twitter messages? Contact his agent?

I don't want this stupid stuff to be a deal killer. This is insane.

nah I wouldn't.. Just let it play out.. if it's meant to be then it will happen..

Yeah, no need to hound him.

I'm going to try to be optimistic too. After a few weeks on the beach in Hawaii, he'll be longing for Goodison Park!

Indeed, when he was 17 and went off to Bradenton - it was a gift from his girlfriend. And amazingly, years later, I happened to come across her facebook and she wrote about him in veiled words...anyway, he broke her heart. Apparently they were quite in love then, hence the teddy bear. In fact, IIRC, he was holding it at the press conference after his first game with the full national team in which he scored his first goal and got his first assist in a 2-0 win at the age of 18.
Heh, I want to read that.

LCAB, another thought - is there any chance per Source with LD now maybe not coming, and how bad we're playing right now with the players we've got, we find some money to have LD come permanent in Jan? Especially with our spot in the table, Peanuts leaving and the Asian Cup situation? Just wondering if the club is going to sit back and let this happen or try and make a play. It'll be easier to defend a player (and I'm sure for him to defend himself) if he's permanently being purchased... Especially if there's another club in the mix, which you've hinted at. Just wondering if our play, Asian Cup and suspensions will force this issue.

I know you've said no before, just checking in with recent developments - the above and our West Brom spanking. I'm pretty sure the answer is still "we're skint."

I'm sure Moyes is beating his head against a wall right about now - his winger situation looks dire.

EDIT: An additional 1,000 views since yesterday. Looks like this story is an interesting one to folks. ;)

love to have him back, even if it was on loan
lacking pace in the team you look at a couple of other teams
not even going to mention names and they just bobm it down the wing
take players on not saying we dont but more pace would only benefit us
come on donovan lad x
