Singing Section info for AEK Athens match

Lol....

Way to completely misconstrue my statement.

I said i stand up when something exciting happens. Do you know why ?

a] It's human nature, in pretty much any situation when something exciting happens people leave their seats. Whether it be football, or the moon landings, whatever.

b] If i didn't stand up then i wouldn't be able to see the f***ing match because of the other people standing up in front of me.

I still think standing is stupid.

'Oh standing up creates a better atmosphere because you can't sing when you're sat down it's just not possible lar'

Bulls***. Your legs are straight instead of bent, you show me how that makes any atmosphere 'better'. You can't. People stand when they're nervous/excited, they do not make the atmosphere better simply by standing up.

I didn't do that at all, there was only one way I could have interpreted what you said, you just contradicted yourself at least twice.

Human nature? Well yeah, of course it is. You see it at every football ground in the world, when a striker is through on goal, people will leave their seats etc. I know that...

That's not my point, nor was it yours. You said you're FOR sitting down because it's unfair on children if, say, a 6'4 guy is standing in front of you. Then went on to say YOU stand up when it get's exciting - as everyone does - but that's where you contradict yourself, the kid ain't suddenly going to grow taller as it get's interesting at a match so he can see.

To me that's a ridiculous argument and I can't believe I'm explaining myself on that, but hey...

An even better one follows. You are trying to argue that sitting down will create as good an atmosphere as standing up would? In other words, standing up makes no difference to the atmosphere? I'm starting to wonder if you go to football matches.

A) As silly as it sounds, it doesn't feel right to sing while sitting down. To support that - usually when the crowd are chanting they get out of their seats anyway, can't even argue that. Or when something 'exciting' happens, as you say, e.g Phil Neville nails Ronaldo, or a contentious decision goes against us, we'll get out of our seats - what goodison is very good at, or can be very good at - and roar our team on calling every decision.

B) Literally everyone I ask.. what was the best atmosphere last season? Answer: Sunderland away. We stood up, fair enough we had 7000 fans, but bloody hell that was mental. You ask anyone this ; At a football match, is there likely to be more atmosphere if you; A) Stand up or B) Sit down.

It's not hard, you know by standing up you will get a better atmosphere (which is what we need, and what BNS and the lads are trying to achieve with this singing section.)

Just to put it out there.. As we know, OT is dead week in week out. What have the fans done to try and change this? Contacted the club about a standing/singing section, and it's been successful.

So I suppose, at the end of the day; Man Utd, along with ANY team that have a group of fans trying to enhance the atmosphere at a football match (which is dying) are smalltime.

I will be going to AEK on Wednesday and singing with whatever 'goes with the flow' as I always do, and supporting Everton as I always do. I don't go to the match to sit and be in a classroom environment.

My issue was with some of the songs listed earlier, as they are not for this day and age. That is an argument for another day.

However I understand people saying 'it is small time/Stoke' but I also think (song choice aside) the OP should be given credit for wanting to inject a bit of noise in to a game.

Thank god someone has installed a bit of sense into this debate.

I don't think you understand what a contradiction is.

Is there anything left that we can't divide ourselves over? Hang on there is, Sayers and Greggs.

Right you gang of [Poor language removed], who's with who?

Greggs here.
lad me and goat have just had a bet you dont go the bar more than once after the game

You are against standing up BECAUSE it blocks children's views, or at least that's one of your reasons.

Yet you say it's OK stand up when it gets exciting.

Poor kid I say, poor kid...

Again, you completely misunderstand.

I'm against standing up for a number of reasons, i simply said that I stand up when it gets exciting because a] it's a natural thing to do and b] if i didn't stand up i wouldn't be able to f***ing see.
