In what way do you think Rooney would be able to lead the line in a fast flowing attacking team with the fact hes in his mid 30's and can't run?

He's absolutely not getting in that midfield and I'd quite happily start DCL over him as he can perform what the manager will be asking of the player in that position. Rooney cannot.

Agree to disagree.

What are your reasons to suggest that Rooney would somewhat fit in to what Silva wants his striker to do?

It's mad to me that we have a young, fast, vibrant attacking line now and people still yearn for an absolute has been who was finished 2 years before he came to us.

Bizarre isn't it. People got the big fairytale comeback they always pined for, but it didn't work out how they envisaged in their heads with him leading us to a trophy and the top 4, kissing the badge and getting a teary-eyed hug on the pitch from Kenwright while Z-Cars played in the background, so now they want to give it a second go. It's over lads.

I never said i want him back, i said i would have him back. No problem.

I never said he would start, he would be a much better option than we have at the moment.

Better goalscorer than anyone we have at the club, the team was a mess last year, Silva has an organised set up now, with pace either side of him and Siggurdson behind him id expect a 15 goal return from Rooney.

But again, opinions.

I think he was brilliant and have no grudge. I also have a fond affection for the club but it does not enable me to play for it! Rooney is simply over the hill at top level, it happens to everybody. Just look at the current team which is getting really interesting and for most players the best is yet to come, for Rooney the best was long ago.

I'd have him back as a coach not a player. He's currently doing his coaching badges in the USA, I mentioned this earlier in the thread.

Oumar would get 15-20 if he played every game.

Doesn't mean he would be any good. Depends what you are willing to lose to obtain these goals. With Rooney you would have a bloke chugging around for most of the game who goes wandering when things dont go his way.

He wasn't good enough to play the role for United 3 years ago with much better players around him, I don't see how he would be good enough for us, I also don't see him as being a better option. He would do something boss every 5-10 games like but is that enough?

Its not even just offensively he would be found wanting. The striker and attacking midfielder are so important to the way we defend from the front. Sigurdsson and Richarlison are pressing from the first whistle to the last, hungrily hunting down possession. Rooney would contribute nothing to that as he is too slow and lacks the stamina to do it. It would totally ruin the system. It pains me to say this but... even Niasse is a better option.

Personally don't see why we'd want him.back at the club in any capacity. His selfishness and lack of humility since around last Christmas has been a bit pathetic to be brutally honest

There is no evidence that he will be a good coach though!

Sod the sentimentality (he doesn't deserve any anyway) Silva has his own staff.

I agree there's no evidence that he'll be a good coach but equally no evidence that he wont be. but he's been the best striker England have had and kids will look up to him and respect him, I'm not saying make him a first team coach but surely he'd have something to offer, especially for the younger players.
