Lol, we couldn't beat Burnley, Southampton or relegated West Brom home or away with Rooney in the side last season but he'd have single handedly won us the games at the Etihad and the pit, is that what you're suggesting?
And we couldn't beat huddersfield Watford West ham Newcastle this season at home.

It was the comments rather than the posters.
Ok then, on that point, no I stick by my view that we would not have been better with him this season. That’s not to say I minded him returning when he did - probably gave him and us a confidence boost and mended some fences well.

I still struggle to see where he’d fit in ahead of the players we now have. He may have set the MLS alight but the PL, as we saw, would take a whole lot more out of him.

Were you being entirely serious to begin with?

Yes.
If we still had Lukaku I wouldn't entertain it, but I seriously think if we had kept Rooney for 1 more season, kept him up top and insisted he did all his work in the last 3rd of the pitch, played him sensibly by limiting his minutes, we would have seen better end product for the improvements we have in terms of pace, creativity and cutting edge in this team. He knows where the back of the net is. His hold up play is good and I think he would have brought the likes of Richarlison and Walcott into play in more threatening positions. Of our current strikers (not counting Richarlison coz I don't think he's a striker right now), I would only keep DCL and most of that decision is based on potential.

Rooney would have scored a lot of goals this season if Walcott chances had fallen to him , he would be on about 8 goals already, his technique , awareness and winning mentality are still top notch. The problem is, he wouldn’t have got those chances because his legs can’t do the work required anymore. Happens to every player that has or ever will play the game.

Fair enough, and you’re right that Richarlison isn’t an out and out CF, but we’ll have to differ.

He kicked off after being subbed against the rs after having an utter mare of a game. Playing him sensibly makes perfect sense but he is a bellend who would be kicking off all the time if he wasn't playing week in week out.

And again, he should never have been brought back.

At the end of the day this is all academic since Rooney actually manoeuvred himself out of the club he allegedly ‘loved’ and not vice versa.
