None of us know if he is the answer because you can’t judge one performance either way.
The football wasn’t very progressive but it was effective and it was great not to see heads drop.
The back channeling search for a new manager shouldn’t be rushed. Would rather have a top draw manager now in the summer than get some mid range manager who happens to be available. The question is whether Ferguson can sustain the the last performance over a longer term and be a sure fire option to keep us.
I would keep ferguson in place while results and performances are going well. Take feedback from senior pros (such as Baines) and bide the time with a successor, but ready to pull the trigger if things are going well.
From surrendering to the RS without so much as a tackle to what we witnessed Saturday is highly progressive in my book. Also the art of tackling is as entertaining as the so called 'beautiful game.' You know the one, tip tap, fall over for a foul. Saturday was football 'like Mother used to make' and I thought it was great. Also congrats to the ref for allowing the game to be played that way and Chelsea who did not spoil it with modern gamesmanship.

It was an excellent result, but still just one game

We've got no idea if he could sustain that for the remainder of the season

Let's not get carried away, if for no other reason than the fact it puts undue pressure on him

Stay calm, stay measured and let things play out
Who's getting carried away? Just said it was a good game. Not sure people are losing their heads. I would like him to get a few more games though, just to have him going mental on the touchline a few more times.

It wasn't directed specifically at your personally, but more a general comment that 136 people (At current count) want him to have the job till summer based off one game, which is definitely getting carried away IMO

I think many are looking at up coming fixtures and see where we will pick up points. I think very few are thinking Duncan long term. The intensity he brings will get us points at home which keeps us up. Relegation is still a big concern. So I think many evertonians think well at least he will get players working hard. He wont allow them to slack with effort. That's why many think he correct man for immediate future . Maybe not long term.

The alternative might be to bring in someone who plays tic tack sideways non intensity football and I am sure us evertonians are sick of those and they would get killed if intensity slacked off now at home.

If the choice is Emery or dunc....dunc all day .... we know he can bring intensity to our game , let's give him a chance tactically

All that tippy tappy BS doesn’t just fail at Everton, it pretty much fails throughout most of the Premier League imo. Look at Klopps football, long balls from the fullback to the wing forward, it was the same with Rodgers and Suarez, and was what Leicester have been doing with Vardy for years now.

Not only does the tippy tappy stuff not work and leads to us losing all the time, it’s actually really boring as well. It’s not good football!

I feel this season may have the 94/95 vibes to it. Ex-player comes back and guides us to silverware after terrible start to season. Dunc until the end of the season giving us time to find a long-term suitable replacement.

Perhaps the answer lies in Dunc taking the managers job elsewhere and developing in the role. It's a huge gamble to throw him in. Especially at Everton, we are a huge club with complex challenges. Maybe coming back once he has developed his style and craft?

I am okay with him staying until the end of the season, provided we are heading toward a top-half finish and not out of either of the cup competitions.
