None of us know if he is the answer because you can’t judge one performance either way.
The football wasn’t very progressive but it was effective and it was great not to see heads drop.
The back channeling search for a new manager shouldn’t be rushed. Would rather have a top draw manager now in the summer than get some mid range manager who happens to be available. The question is whether Ferguson can sustain the the last performance over a longer term and be a sure fire option to keep us.
I would keep ferguson in place while results and performances are going well. Take feedback from senior pros (such as Baines) and bide the time with a successor, but ready to pull the trigger if things are going well.

What happens if we stick with Dunc and end 17th? Who we gonna get then?
Now is the time to get the manager in

I loved Dunc as a kid. I dreamt of him being manager but I’ve seen enough in this sport and long enough in the tooth enough to let my mind rule my heart on this one. Hope he can batten down the hatches until we get a manager that makes us all buzzing. We haven’t had that once since the premiere league began. I want the feeling of ‘how on earth did we manage to tempt this fella to goodison’ so I hope we take our time to achieve that.

Forgive me for saying it so bluntly, but its premature to decide this. Let the owners worry about this decision in any event. They will be as acutely aware as anyone that they desperately need to get this next appointment right, so should take whatever time they have to make it.

If I was making the decisions I wouldn't be in a hurry to do anything. Duncan has bought the owners time to give some thought to this. What happened on Saturday was fantastic. A top4 team got battered because the players raised their game and the fans backed them to the hilt. Having witnessed that first hand on Saturday I think it's inconceivable Everton will consider changing anything this week. They will want to give this a chance to develop over the next month or 6 weeks before saying anything further.

There were no viable candidates before the derby, not much has changed after Chelsea
Kenwright by pushing Ferguson...who else was there anyway. Has bought Moshiri the one thing you usually can't buy
Time.
One game...and more importantly 3pts at a time

On Saturday...a day that WON'T live in infamy (also 50yrs and a day to Sandy's OG) we saw Plan A
If we get Plan A Vs United, well he won't be all that different than his predecessors...and it may even work
If we get Plan A, 2.0 to take account of being away, well we'll have to see how we go.

One game at a time.

Somewhere along the line there may come a number of tipping points
Keep him on until the end of the season.
Offer him the job ala OGS

I could also live with the new guy bejng in the stands at anfield we we do them a favour and knock them out of the cup.

Ha ha ha

People are easily pleased.

Win a game - ‘ 5 year contract for the lad ‘

It’s a no from me. We need a proven winner at club level, Kenwright out of this club and anyone else who reeks on contentment. Too many times I’ve seen our club burned by the feel good factor of the moment.

The game has changed. Everton need to change
I think you overcounted the number of days until Summer mate.

People getting carried away with one result

we need a new appointment quickly or this will go wrong pronto....nobody remembers Unsworth’s stint as manager ?

The impression I got from Dunc’s pre and post match comments were that he was/is happy to step in until the new man is appointed but doesn’t want it permanently... yet.
That game Sunday was a gut reaction from all everyone following Silva’s sacking. It’s a shame it takes something like that for the players to show some fight and character but I guess when it’s the big man barking orders at you from the touch line you listen and obey!
It was the perfect day for him and hopefully the first of many but it’s too soon for it to be more than a nostalgic one off. This club has a golden opportunity to take massive strides in the right direction and if the powers that be get the next manager appointment right the club will be right up where it should be in a few years time ready for Dunc to come back in and take over hopefully.

He's currently the favourite to be next manager , bookies and punters basically haven't got a clue who it's going to be - and neither do our board unfortunately .
