Bit of an aside, but interesting to see Atalanta in CL contention next year. Puts last year's group into perspective. Don't think there were too many other groups with 2 CL teams in them.

I think you may find that wolves will strengthen considerably this summer! Plans for a 50 thousand seater stadium upgrade in the pipe line with mendes pulling the transfer strings to bring in quality players that are the right fit for our team . I came on here start of the season as well as after our first game against you . A lot of you doubted our credentials and have now changed your tune and realised in two seasons we are more or less at the same level as you if not better . Fosun means business and I’m sure by the end of next season you will realise we are a different team to your Burnley’s of this league.

46,000, not 50,000. You have nowhere near the fanbase to do that.

We took 4 points off you and beat most of the top 6 sides . If you are starting the game of what could have happened , just imagine where wolves would be sitting in the table now if we would have found the motivation to beat the bottom teams . Challenging for top 4 . Just let that sink in . Yes at this moment in time we have a better team than you . Next year may be different but all will be revealed next season I guess .

You are from Wolverhampton.

Just let that sink in.

Aware this thread is about 7th place... BUT... is there any combination of outcomes that mean 8th qualifies for the Europa? e.g. where does the 3rd Europa place come from if Chelsea or Arsenal win it this year and one of them has already qualified for the Champs League via the Prem. (meaning five Prem teams in the Champs League, and Man City win the FA Cup (having already one the league cup). I am not sure what happens to the FA Cup runners-up position, if it goes to the league position like the league cup does, then doesn't that mean 8th makes the Europa???

Replying to myself... having just discovered we are only allowed a total of 7 teams in Europe, so if 5 in Champs league, only 2 in the Europa - which is a bit weird really!

You lads notice that players always talk about wanting to play in the champions league? There’s absolutely bugger all ambition to play in the Europa. It means you get a worse schedule some weeks than the Championship. If you have a squad with quality and depth (as we did during our good runs in the tournament) then fair enough, but right now it’s be a total misstep.

What's wrong with you? No passport? Don't like beer?

We had our chance to get this by beating Fulham and we messed up. I wouldn’t expect us to beat Spurs away anyway if the opportunity opened up again. We’ve not been good enough for 7th whereas Wolves have been consistent all season.
Wolves lost twice to Huddersfield
If Wolves were consistent all season they would be 3/4/5/ in the league

Their form has been consistent though, yes they’ve lost games and had a few dips but throughout the season they’ve displayed top half form at most times and a consistency (even if only good enough for 7th). We’ve had a couple of bouts of top 6 form and then a spell of relegation form.

Wolves have won one more game than us and drawn one more game than us thus losing 2 less than us
They had more smaller dips whereas we had one major dip
Not really much more consistent than us
Plus they have made the fewest changes of any PL side this year due to a small squad and luck with injuries

Class is permanent. Proper traditional club, Wolves, but not our standard. They'll finish 12th next year.

Perhaps consistent isn’t the word. It’s just more regular form. I think Wolves fans turning up to watch their team (Huddersfield games aside) kind of knew what level they’d get from their team. We were turning up one week and matching peak Liverpool at Anfield and then the likes of West Ham were waltzing around us at Goodison.

I definitely think though we have the greater scope for improvement and should finish ahead of them next season.
