We took 4 points off you and beat most of the top 6 sides . If you are starting the game of what could have happened , just imagine where wolves would be sitting in the table now if we would have found the motivation to beat the bottom teams . Challenging for top 4 . Just let that sink in . Yes at this moment in time we have a better team than you . Next year may be different but all will be revealed next season I guess .

Back to 11th something like that, bit like Burnley. Can’t see how you sustain that. Many teams do ok (7th) for like one season at most outside the top 6 except Everton since early 2000s.

This season was always a transitioning period.

We've ended the season so promising but in a disappointing position.

I believe we will be challenging for 4th / 5th next season if we keep our players..

Was this really written? They get a BS red card and a free kick spotted 10 yards closer to edge out a draw. Then we play them at home with an injured Baines at LB and Gana out, have the ball the whole match, have twice the chances, and they score on a lucky penalty against the run of play b/c Baines stumbles, a free kick where Jimenez is unmarked, and a lucky bounce right to Dendocker. Wolves are not a better team than us, come on. They had the same players from the year before under the same boring, defensive, counter attacking system, played with discipline, and deserve credit. But they aren't better than us, please.

Wolves have won one more game than us and drawn one more game than us thus losing 2 less than us
They had more smaller dips whereas we had one major dip
Not really much more consistent than us
Plus they have made the fewest changes of any PL side this year due to a small squad and luck with injuries
they were also in the championship last year, finished 7th and nearly made it into the fa cup final

I mean, its not CRAZY to suggest we couldn't be 5th next year, but several of the top 6 need to make mistakes in the window and we have to really do amazing business.

Wolves were indeed fortunate in many ways. They could improve, too, but presumably a big chunk of their transfer funds are going to Jimenez. We shall see.

in order for that to happen we need the likes of neres and lozano, proven quality players. not cheap unknowns and pray they come good.

wolves have mendes on their side, they probably have 2 or 3 signings already agreed in the background.

Disappointing that we didn't get it in some ways, but we've had a strong end to the campaign and if we can play like that next season, then we'll be a match for anybody and could be knocking on the door of top six

What bothered me this season was how poor we did in the Cups more than anything else

I'll let them off in the League Cup as we went out on pens and were unlucky not to win the game in normal time, but the performance against Millwall was not good at all and we paid for it

If you told me right now that we'd finish somewhere between 9th and 6th next season and would definitely win one of the cups, I'd happily take it to be honest

We need both. And no successful club prays players come good, they have good scouting.

What we DON'T need to do is spend big on positions of lesser need. If we have another net spend of 80M, we need to focus on other positions.

I think they'll make signings yes, but can't see United and Arsenal recruiting sensibly. without Europe. Splashing out for statement signings which are square pegs in round holes.

Spurs don't have the finance to splash out - but I've got the feeling they'll still be up there.

Also - I think this hinges on us either signing a proven goal scorer - Or DCL somehow managing to add more goals to his games.

Agreed, and unless they add significantly to that smallish squad the Europa League will do for them next season!

It'll turn out to be a blessing we didn't get 7th this year. One year too soon for me. Get the likes of Zouma and Gomes on perms, shift the deadwood, add 2-3 quality players to the mix and go for the top 6's jugular next season. They're fragile. United are in turmoil, Arsenal are incredibly unbalanced, Chelsea will struggle to replace Hazard, and Spurs never seem to add the quality they need to progress. Spurs are still miles ahead, but the other 3 aren't out of our reach if we get the summer spot on and they don't.

what????????
we had 70m worth of talent on loan and still couldnt get 7th.

silva is inconsistent and always has been. an unbeaten run, usually follows a horrendous loss of form that costs us the season or vice versa
