I don't think any Blue expected to do so well this season, it is testament to the gaffer that Blues expectations have been lifted higher in his first season than ever under Moyes.

You're right, we're not in form at all

Still, if we have a good end to the season, we could have a decent finish yet

Let's face it, finishing 5th or 6th and having a run in the cup would not be bad for Martinez's first season

For me the most important thing for this season wasn't so much the league position as playing with a positive approach and a bit of cojones. So for me it can already be classed as a success. Still a shame to have fallen off the pace a bit though after the highs of Nov/Dec.

And while we are playing Chelsea who are Liverpool, Spurs and Man U playing?

Groucho is wrong the number of games left to play is getting smaller, squad is not fully fit, it is realism not knee jerk. The others are in form we are not.

I think you'll find that I agreed that we're in bad form.

I just prefer a positive outlook.

Fairly sure them getting the richest man i've ever heard of taking them over and a free stadium helped them mate.

Not so.

Citeh had already came back from the 3rd Division to the PL several years before first that Thai bloke and then Mansoor got involved with them.

Without Mansoor they certainly wouldn't be where they are now, but it wasn't his dough that fetched them back from the third tier.

And if Citeh can come back from such a fall and all the turmoil and financial problems that club had during those years there is no one can state with certainty that EFC would never have came back.

That is just plain bunkum.

There aren't half some Jonahs hang out on this board.

Real doom and gloom merchants.

Just to play devils advocate, could be testament to the structure Moyes left behind.

Personally I've been really impressed by Martinez, he's been a breath of fresh air and gave us some much needed positivity. Not convinced we'll continue to improve though. Purely because of what we're competing against.

If you're feeling depressed at Everton's plight, having won a paltry six games out of the last ten - losing two of them away with an injury laden squad to teams with vastly superior resources then just boot up this thread and play the video below:

Kind of puts things in perspective....

Go back a few more yearsr when we last won the league or were at least challenging for the title......rather dwell on that. We should be back to that steely mentality. When did finishing in top six become our solid aspirations. Cups and glory all the way NSNO.

This is the point I wanted to make but miserably failed.

Since when does a bad run of form make Evertonians react in this kneejerk way? We laugh at the reds for this you know.

A couple of bad results and the seasons over? Nah, I don't think so.....

That's the way it seems to be with many on here, Groucho.

I remember the wailing and gnashing of teeth after the draw away at Baggies.

The way some fellows were talking it was like we had some God given right to go to Smethwick and walk all over them.

And we sure as heck were the better team without ever getting a full head of steam up.

It as the end of the world....failing to win at Baggies was proof El Bob had been "found out".

And the next two home games Baggies played?

Why they came from behind to draw 1-1 with Liverpool and Chelsea, the two form teams in the PL right now.

So taking a point away to WBA isn't such a disaster after all.

But does that matter to our "kneejerk" squad?

Are you kidding.

They live to kneejerk as far as I can see.

This all the way

Oh right, so you actually thought Martinez was going to be challenging for the title in his first season with a threadbare squad and no money?

We'll challenge soon enough, I'm confident, even though we're on a "bad run" (but winning every other match on average), just look at what Martinez is building. If we had two strikers who could net regularly we'd be above Liverpool no question.

No excuses like, but come on....

Why don't you (and everyone else) bore people whinging about "kneejerking" when people talk about winning the league when we play well in one game?

Or how we're gonna win the cup cause we're in the 5th round?

I couldn't really give a damn if people post positive or negative thoughts, they can give their views on Everton regardless.

But my god is it boring reading post after post of people whinging and moaning about negative posts and kneejerking, and they achieve nothing more than making this place even worse to read than the posts they're moaning about.
