2025/26 Seamus Coleman

Each to their own and all that, but I really don't get the animosity, towards his person and attitude, from a few people.

I believe that I am a fairly decent judge of character and Coleman has never once raised any alarm bells to his love for the club, to his willingness to help with community stuff. Just seems an all round nice guy. If you don't feel he has contributed on the pitch in the last few years, which is hard to argue against, then fair enough. But the out and out snide comments to his character just seem weird to me.

They're agenda driven by people historically more suited to Anfield.

...I know, especially against a club legend.

No marks is not so bad.

I thought club legends had to win trophies?

What has anyone seen from him that makes you think he deserves to be a first team coach?

His attitude and leadership are very highly spoken of from numerous ex-players and managers. He's certainly a good leader and ambassador to the club by all accounts. It's not hard to imagine how those traits could be positive for an aspiring coach.

But yeah, I don't know anything about what drills Seamus would be running in training or how he'd set up a team, so on that level, there is nothing to go on.

I think this is the opinion of a lot of the people in this thread, I doubt many have any real animosity to Coleman. I think, like all things internet, you get loud voices at the poles. There's some on here that won't countenance any criticism of Coleman which then results in others becoming more extreme in their criticism of him. Neither of those positions are rational.

He's been a great servant to the club but his playing career is done at this level. If he wants to carry on playing, fair enough, we should let him go and do that with our best wishes somewhere else. If he wants to stay next season, then he should do so as a coach. I don't think there's anything too controversial there but someone will likely be along to call me an ingrate momentarily.
