In what way is that disrespecting him?
I have no problem with anyone saying's been past his best. It's been obvious he has been for a couple of seasons. But that's never been the same as saying he couldn't get a tune for us for a game or half game here and there at a time when we've been playing CBs at RB, and it certainly has never been a matter of dishonouring him.
I swear to God that some people cant understand English here sometimes. There's just zero ability to read nuance into anything. Or they just wilfully misread. My money's on the latter.
The RTE panel were basically encouraging him to retire after the Czech defeat saying things like "Seamus, being such a great fella, will know it's time to go and will probably quietly send out a tweet tomorrow announcing his retirement to avoid fuss."
How I chuckled. Loves the limelight, this fella. Won nothing, but like "the Chairman, God rest his soul", wraps himself in faux sentimentality and pretend selflessness to continue gorging at the trough.
We stayed behind after the game yesterday to say good bye to Coleman, I fully understand why people didn't and its their choice at the end of the day.
I find some of those stories about him looking to carry on playing football, so he can still play for Ireland, a bit odd. He's had 6 appearances this season, all for about 20 minutes of playing time in the league 1 full cup game against Mansfield and subbed after 70 minutes when we lost away at wolves. Had to go off injured after 10 minutes at Old Trafford. I think if he had been fit and up to standard at any point Moyes would have started him in the league, given that we have had a CB at RB for most of the season.
As much as I like him as a player, I think he needs to accept at 37 the injuries have taken their toll, unless the Ireland national team are happy for him to play a lower level of football like; league one or Scottish football and he will still get picked.
Whatever is next for him I do wish him all the best.
Thats just waffle'couple of seasons'
Those posts were in 2019, and he had lost it a few years before that. Ok, injury was part of it, but as Mike said, he was already on the slide before that horrible injury.
He's absolutely addicted to the limelight, correct.
All the false humility is exactly that, reverse psychology.
Grandiose narcissists seek admiration directly. Covert narcissists often have more shame and anxiety, so they seek admiration indirectly. The “I don’t want attention” line is a strategy to get people to give them attention and reassurance anyway. It’s sometimes called _covert self-aggrandizement_.
I would much prefer a Manager and a squad who 'get the trophies' rather than 'get the club.' All this wallowing in what it means to be a blue (and nobody really does know because we are just football fans, much the same as every other team) is an insular diversion from the fact we remain mediocre and will stay that way until this 'get the club' loser attitude changes. And he's barely played for 5 years. If he was that humble he wouldn't have gone through with a special guard of honour never mind come on as a "farewell sub" when we're a goal down.
It does my head in he's worshipped.
I'm sure there's current and previous players who "get the club".

Both can be true, there was muted announcement after the game about honouring Coleman. Maybe something was announced elsewhere not consumer of official match day media…It wasn't fans. It was lack of planning and clarity on what was going to happen.
Those posts were 7 years ago and if anything he’s gotten worse since you said JJK was better than him.
That’s the issue, it’s obvious he’s not been good enough for years but he’s been kept around on big wages for years. Hopefully, we are less sentimental under the new owners and players that aren’t good enough are let go, earlier.
So was Phil Neville's.Also, spooky that Baines's last game was also a disappointing 3-1 loss at home.
I read he has been offered a role for us , but he may think about it over the summer & maybe take up a different offer back in Ireland ...?Did the club say before the match there was going to be anything for him?
