He really isn't. He's also not in the Everton mould as a manager, he's more suited to little Englander mentality which doesn't inhabit the average Evertonian. It's a remarkable achievement of Kenwright and the Everton board, in our recent history, that this type of mediocrity has become acceptable. I think it started as a reaction to the dark days of the 90s but has become a useful narrative for them to trot along without any real scrutiny.I actually think a lot of the lost hope has come from the failures of the previous 2 managers more than Allardyce. A kind of realisation has dawned amongst the fans that Allardyce *may* be our real level. And that depresses and frightens us.
