Next Captain

I have read some of the discussion in other threads and I feel this may deserve a thread with a poll attached. With Coleman seemingly near the end of his playing career, we will soon need to appoint a new captain and a handful of candidates are emerging. Who would you pick?

Has to be Tarky all day long. Statistically one of the best defenders in the PL over the last 4 seasons and a proper leader.

People forget we have had a top 6 defence for about 3 seasons now - he has been the mainstay of that, so Tarky for me without hesitation. Would be Garner next in line after him I reckon. Just shading KDH

Garner has been consistent and has all the qualities, Dewsbury-Hall to but I think Garners earnt it for me.

I think it will be Tarkowski who gets the armband next but it is worth considering other options. Giving the captaincy to a younger player like Garner may enable them to grow into the role, plus Tarkowski may not play as regularly in the future if a partnership develops between O'Brien and Branthwaite.

Just added him as a poll option as I think he is worth considering as a choice. I am shocked that I forgot to include him in the first place!

He needs phasing out of the XI from next season so pointless to pick him.

To be a Captain requires a lot of different qualities.
Earn the respect of all the squad.
Lead by example.
And most importantly a commanding stature on and off the pitch , to be very vocal and not afraid to give teammates a propper rollicking when needed.

We have mostly players that go about their business and let their football do the talking and thats ok.
But we only really have Pickford & Tarkowski that fit the bill.
