Why not give him a lifetime contract? Playing actual matches for Everton no longer seems to be a necessity for "earning" a playing contract at the club, so why limit it to a single year?

Three years would be an insult. Chelsea are handing out six year contracts, so Seamus should get that as a minimum and a clause that allows him to sack us off for Eire for any role and any reason he sees fit. Anything less would be disrespectful.

On the list, KDH. Not just on ability, but speaks really well and already represents the club properly. Clearly has standards for himself and the team, and not just in a “we all need to take a look in the mirror” sort of way. Not seen many players come in from outside without huge fanfare and immediately ingratiate himself with the fans and squad, and show his qualities in the majority of games.
Would also trust his football intelligence to instruct those around him when we need to smother a game out and kill time etc. i.e. he doesn’t appear thick. Possibly a bit too nice??
Off the list, something about big Jake for me. Hopefully will grow to be more vocal over time. Always gives 100%. Eventually we will see him dominate strikers with both his size and pace. The pessimist in me also thinks we could have him for 10 years, whereas Branthwaite maybe not unless we really kick on.

Not sure it’s something you can really have a relevant opinion on from the outside to be honest. A lot of what makes a good captain is going to be completely invisible to us.
Garner. Always shows up, leads by example and I like a midfield captain.
