Hi.

I’m a cuckoo here (non-Everton fan).

I was reading the papers this morning and obviously the Sam Allardyce potential exit was a leading story.

I have been half following the protests in recent weeks but seeing the story that it was finally coming to a head with him being sacked moved me to google Everton forums and read what people were saying.

I think I (respectfully) speak for a lot of non-evertonians (and several pundits etc), when I say I really just don’t get it.

You guys have finished above 12 of the 13 teams you could have realistically hoped to finish above, and buy for an outlier of a season from Burnley you would have won the ‘other league’ below the top 6. And you were worried about relegation when he arrived.

I won’t hang around trolling here, but if someone could spare the time I would love to hear, on behalf of all ‘outsiders’, why do you guys hate big Sam so much???

Thanks

The fans were not protesting that much a month ago - indeed it increased - but @COYBL25 can verify I posted on here he was going contract terminated at the end of the season - end of!

Lucky guess. It seems he never even knew it until the last few days

Try watching a game football every week, that tactically consists of nothing more than hoofing the ball to your isolated striker, for an entire ninety minutes. Multiply this by every home and away game, as the tactics never change, no matter who you are playing.

The manager then tells the media / everyone how great he is and how he`s saved your club.

That he`s a footballing genius, that individual players are crap / some players are crap.

Then lastly he starts calling the fans out for wanting more.

I think you have to cut the support some slack here after what we have endured this season.

He's definitely taken the brunt of our anger and disappointment at how things have transpired but at the end of the day the man has done himself zero favours with how he has treated the supporters, various players, other club staff, and more.

I don't feel the least bit bad about it because I genuinely do think a lot of his actions brought that vitriol out of us. That's to say nothing of the footballing choices he made, some of which helped secure our Premier League place but most of which made us want to punch his lights out.

He did his job but he was an utter bell about it and he deserves to be tossed out on the back of that.

In the world of social media, the cult of personality I think influnced here, essentially it doesn’t matter if he was a bell, it only matters that he got results and snagged 130 mill. Ultimately that’s probably the max he could have achieved given the context. A good job done.

I don’t want to go for a pint with him, I wanted him to get results, couldn’t be arsed about likening him or not to be honest. I actually think it’s pretty weird that, that matters to people.

If we had given him a 6 month deal.. I'd have applauded him off the pitch on Sunday.
Honestly, I would have. Job utterly done.

This mess is TOTALLY our boards fault.
