Current Affairs Sadiq Khan......London Mayor.....

While doing sod all about moped crime, drugs, knifings, murders, etc, but at least he can claim the moral green ground while making more millions from the motorist. I haven’t driven in London for over 30 years and I have absolutely no intention of ever doing so in the future, but this seems to me to be diversion politics. But worse, it will probably hit the very people who voted him in, while letting the richer folk get around it.........

It’s got nothing to do with central government cutting the met police budget by £600m then ?

I didn't live here before the charge, so my anecdote would not be particularly useful, and as I don't tend to use motorised transport above ground (spare the odd bus trip) it would probably be even less so. Better to look at objective data rather than subjective opinion, no?

I read that there has been a reduction in the number of private cars, but an increase in taxis (who don’t pay the charge) and delivery vans resulting in static travel times since about 2007. My own personal experience from my visits by train, for what it’s worth, is that the roads are still blocked with as many vehicles as ever, giving out similar levels of pollution. Again, if people are serious about pollution, get rid of the taxis, get rid of the buses (I’ve lost count of the number of buses I’ve seen with one or two passengers on), be serious. This idea that putting a charge on certain cars is going to dramatically change the London environment is a sick joke tbh......

Sadiq is sound, he played a big part in helping getting fabric re-opened after the police and Islington council tried their best to kill it.

He seems more interested in getting closer links with Pakistan and stopping Nasty comments on Twitter. Remember this man fought with all his might to defend terrorists. Has close links with the Muslim brotherhood and Hamas. Has his own agenda and I can’t stand his arrogance! I’m not a fan:)

I've never liked Khan much, but a lot of the criticism against him as is often the case borders on the insane.

There has been a small rise in knife crime, well below previous years and comparable cities (like New York). A lot of this has to go down to police budget cuts as well as budget cuts in general across the public sector. They were warned. I don't have much sympathy for Khan, as in office he'd have likely made similar swingeing cuts and there'd have been a similar outcome. It's amazing how his critics omit that bit of information though.
