if it makes the environment better for the people of London get on with it, if that's what they want down there.
Has anyone asked Londoners or is this being imposed on them?
.

While doing sod all about moped crime, drugs, knifings, murders, etc, but at least he can claim the moral green ground while making more millions from the motorist. I haven’t driven in London for over 30 years and I have absolutely no intention of ever doing so in the future, but this seems to me to be diversion politics. But worse, it will probably hit the very people who voted him in, while letting the richer folk get around it.........

9,500 people die in London per year from air pollution. I know you don't really care about a comparison, but there were 116 murders in the capital last year. I'm sure you don't really care either way though.

You do realise Bruce that all these cycling bods are creating an environmental catastrophe by utilising and wearing out rubber tyres as well as the many plastics used upon the bike and helmet. The rubber particles from the tyres, being released into the air as the bike is being ridden, will cause a great many deaths. Or, this could be the same bs promulgated by the anti car lobby.........

Even after the pub that's a poor effort Pete.

It was a joke, albeit with a very small grain of fact.

Meanwhile if this mayor really wanted to deal with these problems he could simply ban all mopeds from the city, and ban all or whatever category or car he hates from the city. Making people pay will merely mean that only the wealthy can drive and people will still die from pollution anyway. This is like the congestion charge, it makes absolutely no difference, but it generates revenue.....

The congestion charge has made a quite considerable difference though Pete. Congestion is lower. Pollution is lower. Accidents are lower.

As always, I'm open to counter examinations proving it has made no impact at all.

Well, you live and travel in London. You can tell us if the roads are empty and free flowing and that the air you breathe is as pure as being at sea.....go on Bruce tell us what it feels like for you.....

I didn't live here before the charge, so my anecdote would not be particularly useful, and as I don't tend to use motorised transport above ground (spare the odd bus trip) it would probably be even less so. Better to look at objective data rather than subjective opinion, no?

This is a fantastic idea and I hope it is expanded to regularly ban cars, taxis, trucks and vans from the roads (at least in Central London).

On the one day a year in which they already do this (for the Sky bike race) the difference is massive, in that you can't taste the air and there isn't a load of people who can't drive busily driving about.
business stock deliveries aside, the ultimate aim should be pedestrianization of all city centers

You’re right. The Mayor’s environmental team should stop whatever they’re currently working on and focus on crime as well.
