there official site

not a mention , of him leaving or staying.

i dont think they would mention him leaving untill the deal is officially done.

but if a club like everton were saying they were about to sign one of valencia's players and it wasnt true , id expect them to have posted a statement pretty sharpish yesterday.

all will become clear by this friday (maybe monday or tuesday but im guessing banega may play in valencias next euro match on thursday still )

I did the same thing and scoured the Valencia OS (sad but there you go) and I agree mate. I think this is more of a "We haven't agreed anything with Everton (yet)." There are probably some loan fees or details still to agree and the reporter has suggested it is finalised. This one will happen.

For some reason, Everton are doing itt he other way round. Getting the permit before negotiating the deal. Strange way to do it, but if it works, good. Not sure about the politics of Valencia though.

That's the thing BT mate, folk (not you necessarily)seem to be assuming after 1 Spanish media story that we've had no contact with Valencia and have just found out if we can get him in case they agree.

That situation sounds like complete fantasy. Surely we have had encouragement from the club that they would be interested in this kind of deal for him before we even wasted our time getting approval. He may not end up coming through one reason or another but conversations must have happened at some level and we have been encouraged to start the process.

Right well this made it to belgian papers, saying Everton got Banega on loan for the season with option to buy at the end of the season

NICE

That translation has tickled me. "Mouth Juniors" is a literal translation for Boca. Sounds acer.
On this alleged new way of conducting transfers, can't we apply for a work permit for Messi? Get one for Alves while you're there too.

Just reread the story on the OS yesterday :

David Moyes hopes to tie up a season-long loan for Argentine international Ever Banega in the next few days.
Everton successfully appealed for a work permit for the Valencia midfielder on Friday.
Blues officials are now in discussions with their counterparts at the Spanish club in a bid to complete the formalities of the deal.
"The work permit was cleared yesterday so everything going well we hope to see him in the next few days," said Moyes.
"He's got the ability to take the ball in play. He's a good footballer and he's young and hopefully has time to improve as well."

Seems clear enough. Only "formalities" to be sorted out with Valencia.

You can't actually do that.
I know you can't which makes this so strange. From my hazy recollection of this type of transfers, the work permit is the final piece of the puzzle. Sort of like "Deal subject to work permit", which would imply that terms have been agreed and a medical being done. I can't see what other formaliities are therefore needed.

Unless the medical is the only obstacle left, which given that he played during the week, would make sense.

But I've come to the conclusion (OK, mystic revelation on my part), that while in general Everton are good at transfer dealings, and indeed have been commended for their professional approach, on too many ocassions we seem to act like transfer newbies just learning what to do. It sometimes seems like memory wipe or an inability to wheel and deal.

All the news from the player's end of things suggest it isn't going to happen, which leads me to believe it's another pantomime.
