Rooney (18 months left on a contract)

No mate, but I think he might want to go somewhere for a massive last pay day. Sadly I don't think we can give him that. And he might want to try his hand abroad.

No chance of £30m though.

I agree he will probably jump at the money but next year when he has 1yr left on his deal, if he wanted it I'm sure we could afford it at that point.

.....bit early to talk about us getting him in a few seasons time, suspect a lot will happen in the Rooney career before then that will inform whether this is likely to happen. Can't see it myself.

Essentially this.

If we keep going as we are we might well be a very attractive option but it's way too early to tell.

I can't imagine him going abroad to be honest, I think he would struggle to adapt off the pitch.

Maybe, but someone like PSG could offer him an absolute ton of cash which i'm sure would help him settle down.
Then there's the MLS....maybe? Beckham's franchise will need a huge name.

Just ideas.

Rooney is Chelsea bound in my opinon. Mourinho tried three times to sign him last summer and when he couldn't he brought Eto'o in on a short term deal as a stopgap measure.

At the end of the season it will be a new contract for Rooney at Utd or a sale and there is no indication that Rooney will stay. Chelsea will be back for Rooney and this time Utd will have to sell, ironically it might create a chink of light for us with Lukaku.

But he made a lot of money, sponsors are massive, he been on around 8 million a season in wages. How much does he want? He got unfinished business at efc

If a player makes millions and millions by the time he's 30, should he think "I've made a lot of money now, I'll go and help a division 2 team get promoted"

It's not about money. Yes, they are paid a lot of money but they aren't doing it for money. When you're a footballer you want to be at the highest level and winning trophies year after year, playing with the best players in the world. Money doesn't come into it in my opinion.

Everton is not a division two club, the club can pay good wages, its comes down to how greedy he is or help his club win, its a challenge and one he will get paid well.

People who's opinions deserve respect have said he'd like to come, so it's possible.

Me, I can't see they money men around him allowing it to go through unles we're due to play CL football this summer.

Division 2 team???

No but he may think he has unfinished business here, I bet he'd love to win something with Everton, all whilst making 100k isn't a bad deal.

Champions league is probably a big thing. Who knows though he may already have plans to go abroad or take a massive packet with Chelsea.

IF he leaves Man Utd he will be going to a massive club in the champions league. Barcelona, Madrid, Dortmund, Bayern. I don't think he will sign for Chelsea or Arsenal.

He's a phenomenal footballer, very intelligent and when he's on form he's the best in the world, he's just turned 28 in October, watching him each week, he still plays like he is 21, he's tracking back, winning the ball deep in midfield, bringing it out of defence, creating attacks and finishing them off. He does the job of 3 players and players like this don't come around often. The scary thing is, I still believe he's got more in his locker

I rate Rooney highly but best in the world even when on fire is over exaggerated! His best days were early twenties, when he used to power past people a little like Barkley does. He doesn't do that anymore...and certainly once past thirty will show less and less. Barca etc will NOT be in for Rooney!

If he wants it, then it's something he his going to have to start working towards from now! He would need to tell utd that his intentions are to go back to Everton to finish his career and that is the only option he wants to take. From there it's down to whether utd would let him go early for a fee or rather hold onto him and let him go for nothing at the end of it.

One thing for sure is if Rooney signs a new deal at utd or elsewhere he will never play for Everton again IMO.

Rooney and Barkley play the same position more or less. We would have the same problem Utd have with fitting Kagawa in the team.

Would like to see how the two fit in together for England.
