all of these players 'play' centre midfield, not can play

You highlight Neville, well mate I'm afraid you're gonna have to put up with that because he'll play there.

The only ones I would like to see there are Fellaini, Gibson, Junior and Barkley, but the rest can play there if needed. And we know Neville will for a large chunk of the season. Just saying... we don't need any more cover there, why waste the little money we have?

Because you said this "He is NOTHING like Cahill, as much as we loved the fella, he was limited in his ability with the ball at his feet." and I thought that was bollocks?

Tell me how?

Are you really saying Cahill has the same ability with the ball at his feet as Dempsey?

I don't understand why you think a comparison with one of our best players of the last decade is an insult. You said Dempsey scores more goals than Cahill could dream of when actually he's still playing cath up.

Tim Cahill 1.5m 8 Years 56 goals.

Has Dempsey even scored 56 goals in his whole career?

Per appearance Dempsey has a better strike rate....playing for a worse team. Either way, the comparison is pointless. Cahill was fantastic, but he's not what he used to be. Dempsey is on the top of his game. Both in their primes, it's a toss up.

By all accounts, weve got £15m upfront from City, then add ons after certain things that could total upto £20m. Greg O'Keeffe in the Echo claims Moyesy will get SOME of the £15m to spend, so obviously some is going to pay off debts, so say Moyesy gets £10m to spend, i doubt he'll be buying Dempsey at 7 to 9 million!.

LCAB as intimated on Twitter that we could be in for one of the Blackpool wingers, Ince or Phillips.

If we could sign say, Ince, for 4/5 million and get Naughton for as much as 3/4 million, then that could possibly leave us £3m to spend on signing a central midfielder and a striker on loan possibly and dependant on who we'd loan, i'd be happy with Ince & Naughton and a couple of loans!.

If you discount the games since Cahill's foot injury the strike rates are nearly identical.

He's a straight out replacement to cahill which is fine, we miss those goals. It's just he's slow for a guy we'll use on the wing and he's old and 9 mil is a lot. Fine, fine player but maybe not the right move for us.

Laughable.

Dempsey at Fulham from 2007:

157 (27) Appearances 50 Goals - Thats just in the league.

Cahill at Everton from 2004! :

210 (16) 56 - 6 more goals in the league with 3 more years to do it in?

Wow guys, the stats really back you guys up. And Dempsey was only more recently moved more prominantly behind the striker.

Well put. If you look at trends, Dempsey has been improving his goal scoring every year. I agree that 9 is a bit much though. Especially for us.

Goals with his Feet! And actually Dempsey has 3 more seasons or 60ish appearances to catch up with Cahill's league tally, oh, which is only 6 goals higher than Dempsey's. (y)
