Roberto Martinez discussion

Ok then so 2 seasons ago I would say that it was our best PL season. Are you saying that we should forget the 72 points and only concentrate on 5th place?
If that's the case then he has a way to go to even equal Moyes with him having two 5th places and a 4th. He doesn't look close to equaling Moyes.

The bits in bold I agree with.

We had this under moyles. It was always: "We were only 'x' points off an 'x' placed finish; if only...."

Wasn't good enough then, still isn't now.
That's where you and others here disagree. It wasn't good enough previously.. why is it now?

Where we finished with Moyes was about the right position. PL finishes weren't the issue. The issues with Moyes was the lack of boldness in cup football (cowardice to give it its proper description) and the dull agricultural muck he served up and presented as 'football'.

If Martinez gets roughly where Moyes got us and makes a good fist of the cups whilst offering this brand of football - which is where we're not too far off, btw - it's job done. And that'll be the case for as long as any Everton manager is under funded relative what's required for sustained success.

No, thats not acceptable.

By a long chalk.

Moyes this, Moyes that.

Stop living in the past.

Martinez has a squad full of international players, he has a squad full of the brightest talents in European football, "getting by in the league" isnt good enough, you cried all last season that Europa ruined our season, we fell at the first hurdle in both cup comps and we got embarrassed by a lesser team in Ukraine due to the managers failings. We all want to win something, anything, but our goal as a football club should be to break the top 4, it was our goal under Moyes and has been our goal since your idol Moyes dragged us from relegation battles and brought European football back to the club.

Our goal should be European football every season, Europa or the big ears, that should be our goal, European football helps us attract a higher quality of player and it keeps our current players happy. Not a single player in the world will care if we win the FA Cup, not 1 jot, how did Wigans FA Cup allow them to attract players? Its quite a worry that the Manager, well to put it 1 way, cant manage a top team in this league, hell he cant even manage a crap team in this league.

Personally I think hes better suited to Championship level, maybe even League One, a team with no ambition, a team with fans like you who are happy to get to Semi Finals and get dicked everywhere by the bigger teams. At the start of the season he had a number of goals, European football and a cup, he was givin a vast sum of money to spend on players to achieve this goal and he built a squad more than capable of finishing in the European spots.

We might still land a Europa, we might even get a trip to Wembley, something Moyes did quite regular, for the record, he will forever be in Moyes shadow, Moyes eclipses him in every way so far, more Wembley trips, more Europa, better attractive football, cos despite you attempting to re-write history, on the whole we played much better under Moyes, we attacked at pace and hit teams hard, something Martinez only does Away.

So you keep holding Moyes up as the benchmark, a Manager that failed to achieve what we deserve, failure to prepare, prepare to fail.

Oh David you have been schooled

*awaits daves 72 points season response, possibly a boss togger remark

These corners we are supposed to be turning are better suited on the Suez canal . What points we might achieve is a wasted exercise. What we actually achieve is the test.

It was NEVER our goal under Judas. Ha Ha. The revisionism here is beyond belief.

As for the 'brightest young talents in Europe'...maybe you can remind us how they BECAME the brightest young talents in European football. I'm pretty sure it had a lot to do with El Conquistador.

Europa League is a realistic target. Yes. Hey, he got us that didn't he?

'Cant manage a top team' and yet set our PL record points total. Erm, yeah ok.

Pfffft!

'Something Moyes did quite regular' - a final and a SF (which dont count as far as you're concerned!) in 11 years. Well in Moyesie.

'We played much better under Moyes'. FFS, I wished you put that at the beginning to let me know this was a wind up.

This'll be fun.

Got me popcorn ready. I'm settling in for the night.

There will be no rebuttal, he cant say anything to that, its just undiluted truth.

Im sure I speak for everybody in wishing for a flawless Everton victory tomorrow and then we can enjoy the International break as a forum.

Nobody wants all out war, cos all out war means we got knocked out.

Peace in our time please Mr Coco, pick footballers in footballing positions, win football matches, its surely not that hard.

Depressing as the WBA game was, we have improved lately. Beat Bournemouth tomorrow and let's hope we torment Villa after that, then the Brom game will just be an isolated poor result amongst a decent run of form. We can still end the season strongly, no reason we can't get a Europa place.

No mate, Ross Barkley is a World Class talent cos God gave him that talent, John Stones is a World Class talent, well, you know the rest, Martinez didnt bring either of these talents to the club, he inherited them, in the case of John Stones hes failed to coach the boy correctly and theres a real danger of him going backwards. Miss management on a scale ive never seen before.

Europa League is a realistic target. Yes. Hey, he got us that didn't he?

You sound like Sky mate, football was around way before they invented the PL.

Pfffft!

3 Semi finals and a Final David. He didnt have the squad or access to the vast transfer kitty Martinez has either, but he failed, so please, hes not the benchmark, unless your measuring failure.

Keep fighting David, I admire it, its a shame Clown shoes isnt backing you up, hes mugging you off on a monthly basis, you dont deserve that David. Moyes never repaid my loyalty, he crapped on it from a great height, dont be me David, be all you can be.

If you cant say I'm right on this you're being unreasonable and we'll have to agree to disagree. That's as fair as I can be.

Anyway: nice win tomorrow, two week break for RM and the team in the sun, back home to crack on and get to Wembley and the top half. That'll pretty much seal the deal.
