Roberto Martinez discussion

I think a lot of "game management" has to be down to the individuals understanding the little things you have to do to hold onto a lead. It's a snide challenge before an opponent breaks the lines, it's taking the ball to the corner, putting your foot on the ball when you want to drive forward.

Not that there aren't things a manager can do to "manage" a game, but a lot of it and I would even say a majority of it is on the onus of the players to understand the situation and do the little things that can make the biggest difference when put together.

This is the second time this season we've been 90 minutes from wembley. Silverware beckons
I agree mate. Getting between the ball and man and winning a soft free kick is the most obvious way. Pienaar does this to perfection. Kilbane in the past.

Anyone else got the sense that some on here would rather we didn't win a cup because that would be "papering over the cracks." We were one leg away from the league cup final and we continue to progress in the fa. We've been seriously underperforming in the league (particularly at home). Everyone acknowledges that even #davek, but I just don't get people raging at our performance or worse sounding disappointed or grudging that we won away against a PL team in a round where a few pl teams will get knocked out. At least the away support gets it: nice to hear Bobby's Army and School of Science being sung today. Fans who support thei team when they put in a shift, keep a clean sheet, and win away 2-0.

We were crap going forward first half but didn't go that badly second half imo. Aside from the two goals, we had the ball in the back of the net which was debatably called offside, and shaped that chance for Ross that was deflected wide.
Pretty defensively solid throughout.
