Roberto Martinez discussion

It matters because I want to prove my point above. It matters because your analysis of the current Everton is out of line with the reality. It matters because the type of points you bring up are symbolic of the profiling I done before.

So I want to see if I'm right and by your refusal to answer it I guess I am.

I don't own a PlayStation and have never played football manager. You're as bad as Michael trying to profile this forum. Some people like the world in little boxes, it's ok if you're one of them mate.

So my main point about you being early twenties is correct? I thought so.

Your viewpoints and the way you argue them across are a product of what you've been brought up with. Saturated football coverage, on the Xbox all the time. It's why you try to impress fellow footie fans by being ultra critique of your team and denying higher standards. It's also how you also imitate being a scout by offering up foreign players as an affordable solution to gaps in the team and tactics that you have personally identified.

There's many of you so don't take it personally but it shows a lack of experience and true perception.

We weren't last season, we'll probably be close this season. How has a team outside the prem for so long caught us up so quickly?

Yes we had a shocker last season, but you have no idea how the table will look in May. Basically what you're saying is you think Koeman would do a better job here than Martinez because they're quite close to us in the league after being in the Championship relatively recently? Their rise started well before Koeman.

Look at who Anclotti has managed. He's only ever been at clubs at the top of their respected divisions before he's gone there and had the ability to spend all kinds of money.

We've been playing boss footy at times this season. And we're ahead of Southampton. And battered them once already this season.
He has been sacked numerous times. Given the young squad of quality player we have, I think he would want to manage a solid Top 6/7 Premier League club.

Southampton hadn't found their rhythm earlier in the season after another summer of departures.

At the end of the day, Southampton are a very small club who have yo-yo'd up and down leagues throughout most of my memory.

Boom.
Couldn't agree more.

Prior to being relegated in 2005 they had been in the top division for a long unbroken stretch, more than most clubs at the time like Villa and Man City for example.

I'm struggling to understand how Southampton's improvement over the last few years has anything to do with how Everton are doing tbh

Yeah they got Pochettino another good manager and then went for Koeman two ambitious moves. We've not moved forward. Hence why we're in the same predicament despite supposedly building for the last 2 seasons.

With the most talented young squad we've had in thirty years? Not that you'd remember that far but it's true. The best attacking football we've probably played in that time too.

Obviously young it's prone to good and bad days, like drawing away from home for example and failing to close down a game while on a lead.

OK, so they've chopped and changed their managers 2 or 3 times over the last few years to essentially get to our level. So what do they do now? Stick with Koeman and see if he can break into that top 4/5? Or should they go for a manager with an impressive track record at improving the youngsters from their much famed youth academy... Someone like Martinez?
