Fair enough.

I think Jags will play tbh - and base don the last few performances I wouldn't begrudge that either.

It'll be interesting for sure.

Horses for courses mate, think Jags has suited the last couple of games down to who he's playing against, just don't fancy him against a lot of movement and at the pit, with Coleman being out though can see it myself :(

Maybe so mate, but honestly think we need to just go with passion over experience in this type of game, we've gone down the old heads route for countless seasons and whats it ever resulted in

Well why can't we have a balance of youth and experience?

Why can't we play Holgate at RWB with Jags in the back three, or play Lennon at RWB with Holgate in the three?

What's wrong with having a mixture? Why does it have to be all kids or all veterans?

Yeh I'm the same, though then again Funes Clumsy isn't much better, and fwiw Holgate isn't ready to play in a two-at-the-back just yet IMO.

Ideally, we'd have gone with the line-up we did vs City, with Gana replacing Barry. But with Coleman out there's going to have be some shifting.

Lennon has shown absolutely nothing to back up that he can play there Mikey.

Personally, I think it'll be - as you say - Holgate RWB, with Jags, Williams and Mori at the back.

He always tracks back and defends when playing on the wing mate, I see no reason why he couldn't do a job at RWB if needs be

That being said, I think that Holgate is better suited to that role, but that doesn't mean Lennon couldn't do it and do it well

I'm fine with Kenny being on the bench, but I wouldn't start him in this

I might take Jags or Funes Mori off in the second half at some point and then bring Kenny on and move Holgate to the back three, depending on how the game is going and how tired they are getting

Thing is, he doesn't mate. He 'tracks back' having already allowed the person he's marking to get five yards on him.

He has been utterly useless defensively this campaign and that's why he's been dumped from the squad in recent months - not offering enough at either end of the pitch.

I've nothing against him but I think he's been a disappointment this season considering he seemed a perfect fit for Koeman.

McCarthy (if fit) or Davies (who played there in pre-season) would be given the role ahead of Lennon.

I don't think he's disappointed whatsoever

He was key to that win over Arsenal

I think he sadly just falls into the category of players that fans like to give stick to

cos hes never played that position before?

I would. Derby is the perfect game to give him a go in it, how many youngsters over the years for us have actually done well inthe derby when thrown in? In fact how many oyungsters have had a bad game thrown into the derby? If anything they come with the hunger and mentality that some of the senior players who have been here a while have lost when it comes to this game. Holgate had a cracking game when he got a chance out of the blue and i think Browning a couple of years before that looked decent at right back in the 3-3.

SO balls to fear, what's the worst that can happen? Be embarrassed? We already covered that 12 months ago, Kenny at right back could well hit the ground running and stake a claim for the future.

I really don't think he was key mate but opinions.

I don't like giving any of our players stick at the end of the day, they play for us and I'll get behind them. But Lennon for me has been crap this season and that's a shame considering he was one of our better players last term.

Anyway, I don't think Koeman will go three at the back. Too much space behind the wing-backs and Mane, Firmino etc will exploit that.

Flat back four with Holgate at RB and Jags and Williams in the middle.

Hopefully Morgan is fit and he slots in to a midfield three alongside Davies and Gana, with Ross and Kev supporting Rom.

Baines, Williams, Schneiderlin, Gueye, (Mirallas) - all experienced players who should be starting - possibly Jagielka or Mori too - again both experienced players

even Barkley and Lukaku - two young playuers both have huge ammunts of experience already at their age mate

it's only really Davies - who you could describe as inexperienced in the typical starting 11 in the team

I'm suggesting (shopuld schneiderlin not be fit in time)

Robles
Kenny, Holgate, Williams, Mori, Baines
Davies, Gueye, Barkley
Mirallas and Lukaku

If schneiderlin is fit, then he comes in for Mirallas with Davies and Barkley more pushed up

Not exactly a team for of inexperienced kids really, but one with a lot of youth and the legs needed to match the rs/united. - BUT with a fair bit of experience in it as well

Agree mate, my suggestion of Hlgate is on the proviso it's a back 3, if we go with a back 4 then he will play right back - thats nailed on with Williams and RFM at cb

I think we'll go back four, but not sure yet on if it'll be Jags or Funes - and tbh it's a toss-up. Funes isn't exactly quick and isn't exactly better on the ball either, so we'll see.

I'm just hoping that Barry doesn't start. There's a lack of options with Besic and McCarthy out and Snides looking unlikely, but if it is the case then I'd honestly like to see Barkley and Davies drop into a flat three with Gana, and play similar to how we did vs Arsenal (i.e. Davies doing the shuttle job that Macca did in that game).

Then have DCL/Lookman/Valencia/Lennon and Kev support Rom.

I actually think Schneiderlin WILL start myself mate, dunno why, just have a feeling about it, he seems the type not to gamble on his own fitness though so if he does play i am 100% sure he's fine.

Interesting tactical match ups though, as right now have absolutely no idea how they will line up either - although suspect they may actually come with Mane starting on the left to try to expose the players settling in whoever that may be, will he go with Firminho (who missed training the other day with some infection) or go with Origi etc and who is he gonna play at cb as well.
