Any fan of a club in the bottom half of the table this evening who says that they are “confident “ is a big fibber or completely deranged.

I didnt think palace were in it probably right up to this weekend. You look solid enough. but you just dont win games. Heard a palace fan yest saying you havent had a single shot on target in the last 3 games.
Always one that gets reeled in.

Southampton and Bournemouth looked nailed on to go. In recent weeks they have done ok look better than a few teams. I think Forest are the team that’s going to drop like a stone they are defensively weak and it’s starting to show. Palace can’t seem to win. Lots of twists and turns yet but If we can climb above Forest and Palace I can’t see them getting back past us.
Completely agree on Palace and Forest. I’ve watched a hell of a lot of our rivals games lately. I actually think Southampton will be OK, the new fella that’s come in has had a good impact and they’ve got a fair bit going for them up front now.

If I was feeling optimistic and not including us in the eventual bottom 3, I’d go for Forest, Palace and Bournemouth for the drop. Hope Palace don’t go down as they’re a proper club that I have time for, but their recent form is very poor and I suspect Leeds will have enough about them.

Leicester, Wolves and West Ham don’t really enter my thinking and should all be OK, but I’d like them to prove me wrong.

…exactly the point. Huge contrast but there’s a reason we’re both down there. I wonder how they’d cope with Ward-Prowse being out.

They were absolutely battered by Leicester and Chelsea the week before. Yet picked up six points.

That is unsustainable.

That is an interesting point. From a Palace perspective I’m glad we stuck with Vieira. We have a squad of pretty good players, a number of whom are young, and will improve with experience. We lack a bit of experience and snide but that will come. We are a work in progress and will improve. Relegation (which is possible) would derail that.
Everton have a very decent chance of staying up now precisely because of Dyche and his style of play. You have a squad capable of implementing his style and that (imo) will be enough.
That’s it though. Stick with Dyche and the Dyche way and you will be permanently a bottom half side occasionally on the fringe of the drop. Compared to Palace, I don’t think you are a work in progress and without wholesale changes, that is a way off. But definitely staying up imo.
I see the point you are trying to make. Almost drawing parallels with the pragmatic Woy. Even if we stay up any manager would struggle to finish consistently in the top half with us as we are financially handicapped combined with being poorly set-up off the field. Just look what happened in January. Nearly all the relegation clubs invested (some heavily except Palace who probably thought they were safe) and we sold one of our biggest assets and bought in nobody. If we stay up up I suspect Pickford will be gone before the accounting year end and Dyche will be given a modest budget to try and keep us up again. This is not sustainable and will definitely result in us getting relegated at some point.

It is worth noting though Dyche finished 6th with Burnley so definitely capable of getting us top half but consistently not very unlikely unless there are big changes off the field. Having spent some time researching Dyche and his methods there is a bit more to him than I initially thought. He will get the opportunity to work with better players here than he had at Burnley as we can pay bigger wagers even if we can’t pay big transfer fees any longer. Will be interesting to see how it evolves but survival this season is key as it is for Palace

Evertonians are generally glass half full creatures by habit. Even before the anti-christ assumed ownership we had our share of kicking's. Catterick illness in the biggest week of our history, Panathinaikos/Liverpool lost both. Staying loyal to a very poorly Catterick. Clive Thomas. Brian bloody Kidd. Hysel and their murderous behaviour affecting us more than any other European side. Then the Lineker year when we somehow won nothing. I felt Brentford was s**t or bust so I cant turn back now, I presume we will be OK with Dyche.

Agree with all of that.

Maybe. I dont see either Moyes or Rodgers being sacked tbh.

In fact, I dont think there'sll be any mpore managerial changes as everyone looks in with a shout of survival. We're out of that type of decision making anyway.

Every club in the bottom 9 would be sniffing for Dyche if he was available. Perhaps that's what's putting off now Z he's obviously not.

Saints fixtures over the next six to eight weeks are against either top 4 contenders or relegation battlers.
No middle ground except Brentford on Wednesday.

That's tough for me.

Be nice for us to get a point at worst v Chelsea. Two teams who struggle to score.
