But we're not big time either are we?
From Groucho: We've got more seasons on the top flight than anyone, are the 4th most successful club and were league founders.
Overall, we're massive.

Historically a far bigger club than City and Chelsea no matter how many pounds or YouTube subscribers they've got.

Forget history (look at Leeds & Forest and tell them their history makes them big-time). It's about the now.
My estimation on worldwide popularity
Man Utd > Chelsea = Arsenal > Liverpool > Spurs = Man City >>> Everton
So yes, we are small time
from dholliday:
the facts are we're the 4th biggest club in England. Facts.
I don't think any in that list will be our next manager. And as for Whelan...he said Liverpool were not big enough for Martinez, so that just shows how loudly he is talking out of his big fat Tory arse.
What 'facts' are these then?
Turnover?
Wage Bill?
Transfer funds?
Average gates?
Worldwide fanbase?
Contemporary trophy haul?
Contemporary title challenges?
Regular European football?
Attracting biggest names in football?
Not a sellers' club?
Not a club that takes on bigger club's rejects?
Able to find a buyer if the club is put on sale?
I didn't enjoy writing that. But we're not the 4th-biggest club in England by any definition at all.
Over 130 odd years we are. Plus they're OUR team, they'll always be the biggest. I get what you're trying to point out, in recent times it's not rosey, but I don't want to compare to anyone else, because their is no comparison in my eyes.
Obviously for us Everton will always be the biggest and the greatest and the only club. And the club's history is a huge significant part of that bond.
But this thread relates to how we're objectively seen, especially in this current situation of us wanting to attract a high-end manager and coaching team.
