The best in the world at his position. I watched him tackle an opponent at Burnley with a perfectly timed slider. Walked away with the ball..... not a mark on his shorts. Invented the overlap. A true blue hero who had no pretences whatsoever. Goodbye and thank you Ray Wilson.

My dad started taking me to Goodison around 1957, so I remember the likes of Farrell, Jones, Wainwright, Eglington, O'Neill, Tansey, Donovan, Birch, as my first Everton players. That'll give you some idea of how long in the tooth I am...!

Best left back I ever had the pleasure of watching in the blue of Everton, or the white of his country....no other left back came close. Very sad news this....another of the finest Everton team of 1970 gone. RIP Ray and condolences to his family
..just seeing this, gutted. I’m on record as saying he is one of only 3 truly world class players I have seen play for the Blues. Truly a class act and I am honoured to have seen him play.
