Great that. Who did they ask 58% of people that don’t use trains and 34% who do? :coffee:
Asked around in work last night, nobody had got any stick, one woman moaning till she learned the facts.
All other comments from the travelling public were in support, well the ones that offered an opinion that is .
So not surprised by that poll or others that have been done prior to the strike which said the same.

Is this the ticket offices? To be fair, I feel really sorry for the general rail staff because they (you) are suffering due to the chronic mismanagement for decades.
Yep every single one , outside main ones like lime St,
All others unmanned
They will lose travel centres as well at those locations main , more machines in place and tap and go posts put in around the system.
The mismagement has to be seen to be believed honestly it mind-blowing.

What's your role for Merseyrail edge?
I work for Northern mate.
In a station, but used to be involved with the union so get information that some others don't.
Sorry can't say to much mate we are contracted not to talk to the press ect
Wouldn't take to much to find me..
Used to work for merseyrail years ago.

This is the way everything is going though. For the worse. My local Tesco has just ripped out, I would say 80% of the tills and putting in self service. Nothing gets in the way of profits like paying people and all their pesky entitlements like pensions, holidays etc.

I was talking to a fella last week working for a Tesco distributor centre , gets sent home if no work no pay.
He was working through his break to keep up his average picking score.
Going in early to start work incase they didn't need a certain number that night.
Honestly it was terrible listening to him.
Felt so sorry for a man trying to work going through that.
Thankfully had a interview with aldi lined up.
Hope he got it.

Given the extra income the treasury has made over the last few months with the price of fuel, surely they can afford the pay increases.

I am all for decent pay for all and I can’t claim to know too much about railway work jobs. However the guy in the ticket office at my local station spends the majority of his time sat down watching DVD’s. Most people buy tickets online now and use their phones. I feel at some point we have to move with the times and technology.

My local station (station on the Northerline in Liverpool) has had its ticket booth closed during off-peak hours for a while now, and I've not really missed it.

I just tell the barrier stack at Moorfields at pay for it retrospectively, however I suspect it'll be different for the (more)elderly.

Scab mangers were brought into a signal box yesterday.
They couldn't find the button to open the gates.
Fills you with confidence on them running the trains :)
They even had to turn the binmen away.

My missus is a nurse mate and she`s never been on strike in over 20yrs of service, however, she`s fully expecting to go out in the late Summer / Autumn.

There`s a lot of anger in the Public Sector over how they were lauded as heroes by the government during the pandemic and then shat on again over pay and conditions.
