Don’t disagree with that. But for him to pretend that talking about immigration is somehow off the table, is nonsense. We talk about it constantly in this country. And have done for well over a decade.

The quality of that conversation is very poor.

People mix up visa migration with asylum applicants with small boats arrivals with deportation etc etc.

Farage and his ilk don’t want a proper conversation about it. They want to gaslight people that they’re “not allowed to talk about it”, as this drives feelings of division and helplessness and pushes people to protest parties like the ones he’s run.

I think that person said she should have articulated her point in a more tactful way.

But I’m not arguing on behalf of anyone else.

Farage and his ilk are not being silenced. Quite the opposite, they are given huge platforms and a bullhorn from which to shout from. And do so.

My wife works at the local authority and any new houses that are built are being let at market value which they call affordable housing. The old council stock is rented at the old rent rate which is about half of what the market rate is for a three bed semi.
